While there’s obviously more important things going on it’ll be interesting to see how this effects pro sport. Apparently Barcelona are in right bother with their million pound wage bill. While I heard Aussie sport across the board at pro level is completely broke between the two rugbies, afl and soccer. @Chucks_Nwoko could maybe tell us. While the premier league could be one of the more interesting ones. If there is potential for a second wave in the autumn will they continue to receive mega tv deals? I think @Julio_Geordio mentioned before the transfer market bubble would pop like nothing we’ve seen before. You’d hope it would kind of respread the balance again but it could have the opposite impact. I’m not sure the likes of tennis or golf are in real bother being honest. @Dziekanowski surely uefa can’t go ahead with twelve city Euros next summer. I’ve No doubt the nfl will be fine.
Once LOI is safe then we are happy
We might make a sub category for semi pro sport buddy.
Semi pro?
All players have taken a 70% pay cut, same at Atletico
They also a billion of debt apparently. Not having a go it’ll just be interesting to see what happens.
Pro rugby being found out too. TV money will be lost. Only reason Gallagher premiership hasn’t been called null and void.
If the French millionaires do a runner arse will fall out of Top 14. Super rugby cant get the attendances
Ireland will keep heads above water with wage cuts. Global salary cap will be brought in with further restrictions on international players playing abroad. With a focus on international levels considering it is the biggest money maker in the sport
There’ll be a lot of international test games once things open up again to make some money.
They have a great opportunity to change to global calendar.
Pro rugby has been great for expanding the game worldwide but has been a health nail to the club game in Wales, SA, Scotland and slowly here. Which is why I hope the the GGA never go pro. It would destroy the heart of the game the clubs
It would be a great day if the arse fell out of rugby and it went back to its roots. 100 people and a few dogs looking at a Leinster - Munster game in Garryowen
professional sport is finished, its a luxury
What is meant by global calendar? Does it mean that the off season would be the same for Northern and Southern Hemispheres?
That’s an idea that might sound great to moneymen but wouldn’t be so good for supporters.
Yup at international level where European club/provincial competition played November to april super rugby jan to april. Six nations and rugby championship april/may. Southern hemisphere tours in june. National club/provincial competition july/aug/mid Sept in SH. With autumn tours to NH or world cup in Oct/nov. Just aligning the international windows
Uh oh
“We will not have sporting events with fans until we have a vaccine,” says Zach Binney, a PhD in epidemiology who wrote his dissertation on injuries in the NFL and now teaches at Emory. Barring a medical miracle, the process of developing and widely distributing a vaccine is likely to take 12 to 18 months.
