Programmes like Scrubs

I wonder if I’m in a minority here but I can’t stand rubbish like this.

The quirky and zany characters, who all have their particular little traits that the viewer becomes accustomed to, aware of and which provide untold amounts of hilarity.

The crazy, goofy mishaps that occur in their day-to-day lives with the wacky banter played out with backing music supplied by all the worst possible bands adored by US teenage girls such as The Fray.

Then the music quietens down at the end as the lead character guy narrates the deep and meaningful message that’s spelled out at the end of every episode, e.g. ‘No Matter How Busy We Are At The Hospital, Let’s Not Forget That Someone Else Is Even More Stressed Out And Could Do With Our Help.’

Then we see a series of clips of the main characters rushing around but stopping to check if others could do with a hand or something bollox like that.

Then he looks into the distance and says, ‘That’s why I always wanted to be a doctor.’

And the music starts. ‘Shit, it’s over already’, I don’t generally say to myself.

I fooking detested Friends too.

My problem is that Jugs and Cesc4 would happily sit through 2 repeat episodes on E4+1 from 7pm-8pm and then follow it up with 2 more on Paramount Comedy Channel from 8pm-9pm and then search around RTE2 and Sky One for the possibility of a new episode at 9pm.

I can’t take much more of this. http://www.thefreekick.com/board/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

I might even have to start exercising or something.

Have to agree with you on that one Bandage, scrubs is awful crap altogether. British comedy beats the arse off any US shite!

Scrubs is brilliant. If you cant appreciate the banter between J.D and Turk. It has so many funny characters. Ted especially is comedy gold.

Also if anyone has seen the American version of the office will know that it beats the UK version hands down. I really loved the UK version but it cant stand up to the brilliance of Carell.

Friends is tripe, useless. Can’t be compared to Scrubs though. Scrubs while I wouldnt say is anywhere near the level of lets say Curb your Enthusiasm, it’s still an enjoyable show.

Ben is a loyalist hun!

Scrubs is pure shite.

Curb your Enthusiasm is fantastic, but it’s very different. Much slower and more plot-based than most comedies.

Arrested Development was very good in any episode I saw.

US Office is superb.

Seinfeld is a cracking show. Some amount of episodes as well and 90% of them are belters.

Farmer likes Friends. Ergo Friends is shit.

Agreed on Seinfeld. Absolute quality. Found the shows dipped slightly with the departure of Larry David.

Ben mentioned british comedy. I’m a big fan of the more modern day shows like The Mighty Boosh, Spaced, Garth Marenghis Dark Place etc.

have any of youse seen “its always sunny in philadelphia”. its on channel 6 .
i think its the funniest american comedy.
never really got into seinfeld or frasier .
larry david annoys the shit outta me in curb your enthusiasm.

as for friends. its for red necks sittin in their 40metre squred flats in complete isolation in satelite suburban dublin, fat secretaries who eat too much hagen das and men who use moisturiser and like to putt from the rough

last line basically sums up the majority of posters here

Hook off Hango!

Did you use deductive or inductive reasoning to back that argument up?

Didn’t think you would like Seinfeld - that’s Jewish humour no?

I really don’t understand how people could not like Friends really I don’t

I loved friends, even though it became more of a soap drama towards the end.

I like dews!

Just watching Scrubs there for the umpteenth time over the past couple of weeks, couple of decent looking birds on it. It gets the thumbs up from me anyway :rolleyes::popcorn:

Ah that’s gas. Granted it’s from 2007 but there was a time back in the 90s when you were addicted to Friends. Much like your addiction to Manchester City.

Things change I suppose. You’ve moved on to other sit coms much like you’ve moved on to Celtic. Did Rocko tell you to discard Friends too?

Please learn how to use the quote function properly, Appendage.

Rocko has a go at Friends above but I can confirm that he liked Friends in its early days. I have certainly seen lots of Friends episodes (and the constant repeats) myself but I thought, think and will think that it’s utter shit.

PS, Rocko now supports Leinster.

Its kinda funny that Bando is the ultimate bandwagoner.

30 Rock is quality as well.

I think the market on zany characters can now be closed with Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory - up there among the greatest TV characters to grace us with their presence. The banter between the academics reminds me of Frasier as well.

I would throw Two and a Half Men into the same pile. Utter shite.
