They took the soup
Itâll cost them in the long run. They are just another pub now. Prone to the fads. The likes of OâDonoghues are phoning it in and coining it
Yerra itâs still the go-to place for anyone who is anyone.
The Camden can take the nobodyâs.
Not a shop Iâm familar with but sounds like they got a sweetner from one of the big boys, Diageo or Heineken. âWeâll sort out your refurb but we now own your Soulâ Happened to a few âtrend settingâ pubs last few year, O Connells in Galway a prime example
O Donohue just off grafton street? Nice cold pints of Heineken are lovely in that establishment.
Lovely plug here for Ryanâs of Camden Street on the Late Late Show.
I presume the Palace Bar is fucked
If you own real estate like that you are never fucked
Camden St on AI Final Day/night is some spot.
Do they own it?
Are you the biggest roaster on TFK?
No idea but I would have thought that place is owner occupied. Why would you rent a lease on a goldmine
Vulture funds/Johnny Ronan types/ Banks etc, they own most real estate in Dublins City centre
Itâs a weird one. I used to be a regular there and it would be quiet during the week and busy on weekends but busy in a way that youâd go in for a relatively quiet pint for Camden street on a Saturday.
Then about 5 or 6 years ago the UCD ag society decided it would be their bar and then during the week there would be a decent crowd but still manageable. I remember going in one Thursday and it was rammed and I said to the bar man who I half knew what was going on and he said he had no idea.
It snowballed from there to being a big student pub. And then with all the money they were making they gutted it and made it into a fancy bar. Thereâs queues around the corner to get in now, but that wonât last. Theyâll move somewhere else. And what made it âcoolâ In the first place will be gone. That said they are coining it now
I can mix it with anyone.
Itâs essentially Tipperary in the heart of Dublin, with the Ag Science element thrown in.
Thereâs a fair share of wannabe Tipp people among the Ag Science cohort.
City Pubs go in and out of fashion. You have to maximize when the going is good and squeak your bum the rest of the time. Even if there are queues now Iâd imagine they are paying twice the staff/security/Ins/VAT etc they used to. Iâd agree and say theyâd have been better off in the long run leaving it as it was but maybe their hand was forced
Thereâs no great upside to having a crowd like a college ag society either Iâd imagine. Theyâll arrive tanked up, probably with naggins and âownâ the place .
I donât blame them, but I think they missed what was happening. Itâs like coppers, fuck knows why the crowd is coming but donât change a thing
Coppers crew got out at the right time. New crowd in their now
