Question for I.T. experts

Computers and in particular super computers are a cod

The computer dreamed, don’t hate him.

Any good websites/youtube channels on learning python coding? Beginner level only have done a small bit of macros on excel in college. So fuck all knowledge

I found codeacademy good as a free beginner tutorial thing.

Lads - does anyone use a tablet for note-taking? I’m looking at moving from the old pen and notepad to something more electronic to keep notes easier organised, retained etc.

I’m utterly confused between recommendations for the Remarkable 2 vs iPad with a note screen thing through to other options like the Kindle Scribe.

Anyone got any experience?

I use OneNote. It comes free with most Windows. Or you can download it.

So you can take notes, photos, add files on your phone or tablet and they’ll sync with the cloud back to your PC where you can tidy them up later.

I think you get 6Gb free with Microsoft but you can use a trick to get more free if needed. Multiple notebooks are possible.

The pay equivalent is EverNote. I started using Evernote first but then found OneNote layout suited my needs better. So you could try both to start with.

I didn’t know what Remarkable2 was, so had a look there now.
Seems R2 is good for taking handwritten notes but not good for organising and storing them.
Luckily they can be integrated and used together.

Yeah - I was looking to take handwritten notes onto a tablet. It seems like the Remarkable might have the best writing experience but some of the integrations aren’t as good as iPad.

You’re still living in the 2000’s with note taking on a tablet. Take a walk in the 2020’s and find some AI app to annotate the meeting discussion and produce a summary for you. Unless the meetings are legally privileged or something

I don’t want a transcript of the meeting (and not every meeting is video calls). I’m not a fucking secretary or court reporter.

I don’t want another hyped up AI you that looks shiny but replaces one amount of work with a different type but similar amount.

I want to write occasional specific notes, in meetings and out of them, that I can go back to easily as required - without having to have stacks of old moleskins in the corner of my office.

Could you not just have the laptop open in the meeting and take whatever notes you need on that?

It depends to be honest.

There are solutions for what I’m looking for though. I’m not trying to invent something new - just find the best existing solution

iPad is good for note taking and some good apps for annotating documents too

Is that with the Apple Stylus thing? Have you used any note specific screen protector to get a more natural writing feel?

The last 2 laptops I’ve used for work can flip into tablet mode for note taking. Probably too big for what you need but just means 1 less device. Any tablet should do what you’re looking for to be honest. You just need the right apps synced into whatever internal tools you’re using in work

Yeah with the stylus / Apple Pencil

Not used any screen protector - hadn’t heard of them but maybe worth a try
