R.E.M. Thread: TFK's all time favourite band

We would not agree on much. But on that point: a serious squeeze of lime juice.

What noisy cats we all are on tfk

I would argue that REM didn’t do a middlin album until Monster, which was their ninth. Some consistent standard.

This version of Country Feedback with the Godfather of Grunge though…

About the American Civil War apparently.

I didn’t like the addition of Superman at the end of that album. Stipe wasn’t impressed either - he didn’t want to sing it.

One of the best songs of all time.

Monster is very underrated, mostly because it was such a change of direction at the time. It’s still an excellent high energy album, I’d prefer it at times to Out of Time and Green, even though both of those have better individual songs. All opinions of course.

100% agree. An extraordinary run.

The most overrated REM album for me is New Adventures In Hi-Fi. E-bow the letter is one of their best. Electrolite, So Fast So Numb and West Was Won also excellent but the remainder is mainly garbage in my view.

Came across “R.E.M. at the BBC” on the iplayer. Some superb live performances (and miming on ToTP) over 20 years.

Not a chance of that.

They are American Southern gentlemen and they have given their word that they won’t do so.

One of the few regrets I have is not going to that gig. Square bales :triumph:

Seen them three times. Would loved to have had one more shot at them.

I saw them in 1985 and 1989.
