And I bet they would still be there when ya got homeβ:see_no_evil:
Twas an absolute scorcher of a day to be fair.
What venues?
1985 Croke Park. They were on a U2 undercard. They had not mastered the art of playing a large venue.
1989 Simmonscourt Pavilion. The Green tour. They were the headline act. They had mastered the art of playing a large venue.
1999 x 2 + 2003.
A wet day too I think? Did Stipe have his back turned to the crowd for a bit of it and he wearing a big overcoat? Twas around their Fables of the Reconstruction period so theyβd have been fairly glum at the time
Yes he had a big dark overcoat on that he had pulled around his head.
Saw them Slane 95 and Marlay Park 2003ish. Both were excellent performances. Oasis pre sell out were back up in 95 and were also excellent.
This is the quintessential REM song for me. Deeply political in its lyrics (acid rain), wonderful melody and three way harmonies and counter harmonies, and a killer of a middle 8 from the goofy voice of Mills.
And it probably wouldnβt be in my top 10 REM songs!

I never listened to the last one.
So as a general observation, you prefer their early stuff
Itβs safe to say that I think.
It usually is.
That would tie in with me. Automatic is the outlier of the later stuff and overall their best album. Murmur is my personal favourite however.
Only after Liam threw an unmerciful hissy fit on stage and threatened to walk off
Murmur for me too
A Tipp lad who went to Flannans claimed he threw the beer can at Liam that day.
The funny thing about it was that as soon as he had the hissy fit and threatened to walk off, someone let fly with a can and it hit the bass drum a right crack and he just continued singing
