Do not say you heard it was shit. Pm me our mutual acquaintance.

Iā€™m glad you told your e-friends first. Priorities.

Good to hear. As I said, my bad report was 10 years ago so looks like theyā€™ve upped their game. Great location on a sunny day

The Castle Oaks is a lovely hotel and setting but I wouldnā€™t be a fan of the function room and its L shape

Only been in there once and wasnā€™t for a wedding but it is a very classy establishment from what I remember

The entrance area and bar are very nice. The function room suffers similar to the woodlands in that the bar is stuck in a corner too far away from the dancefloor

Had a splendid meal at the Hilton Park in Clones at the weekend. The fillet steak was of the very finest quality and the green vegetables were the best Iā€™ve ever eaten, bursting with colour and served in a sumptuous dressing with garlic and hazelnuts. The starter of duck salad with peach slices was also excellent. Catering was by Eunice Power of Dungarvan, Iā€™m told.

Iā€™ve got two weddings to go to before March is over. One is at the Armada in Spanish Point and the other is the Castle Oaks in Castleconnell. What can I expect from these two places?

Amarda is insanely expensive but a lovely hotel.

Was at the Armada around this time of year for a wedding a couple of years back. Nice hotel but canā€™t for the life of me understand why you would book anything other than a summer wedding there. Got absolutely blown out of it with wind and rain so the wedding surrounds were a pure waste. Meal was decent.

I was thinking the very same. Surely summer or nothing there. The food and booze was good though?

Cheltenham would want to be good to you

Yea no complaint re food and drinkā€¦ except as the lads said itā€™s very expensive but look that would hardly apply to the likes of us.

Iā€™ve three in the next two months :upside_down_face: none of em my side either.

Same as the others I was in the Armada in an absolute storm, wind would cut you in two. Nice place though unreal view from the reception room.
A while since I was at a wedding in Castle Oaks but it was good the times I was there.

Agreed on this. Itā€™s a super summer venue. Good food. Donā€™t think it is that expensive
