As would I, mackerel is the nicest fish in the world imo.
However there is loads of mackerel in Asian cooking, its a staple of Malay and Japanese cooking in particular.
Soft shell crab is the small crab that is inexpensive and plentiful, and there are prawns everywhere here. Barramundi is another form of sea bass, again sea bass is plentiful over here.
Basically every form of fish and seafood you get at home you get over here. The quality isn’t as good but the cuisine makes up for it.
Sure the Oirish haven’t a clue how to cook fish, other than a battered cod.
