I had a magnificent beef stew with Ethiopian spices there for my tea. First time cooking with an Ethiopian spice blend and it was seriously hot but very aromatic. Good dollop of yogurt on it and it went down a treat.

Where’d you get the spices?

There are two spice blends in the dish. One (mekeshala) I made myself with ground cardamom, cloves, black pepper and cinnamon. The other blend (the hot one) was berbere. I got that online from Mr Bells global emporium in the English Market in Cork. They have a great range of stuff there. I got the idea from a cookbook called Ethiopia that I got a present of.

They have a shop in a mini industrial place in Togher also. Music Zone record store is next to it… A 2 in 1 for you the next time you’re down.

Togher sounds like a rough spot.

It’s in the nice part

It’s coming up in a big way I think

A lot of it is.
You’d be about 100m from the entrance to the Barrs club there as well

They sell frozen Greggs sausage rolls in Dunnes Stores now.
