“Bread is the king of the table and all else is merely the court that surrounds the king. The countries are the soup, the meat, the vegetables, the salad but bread is king.”
Louis Bromfield
I bought a soupmaker last week
So far I have made broccoli and Stilton soup and cauliflower and cheese soup
Cheese in soup made in a soupmaker is a gamechanger.
How did Darina do this mate? I’m unfamiliar with the story.
What’s the difference between a soupmaker and a saucepan?
Is this some sort of joke?
night and day
Maybe @anon7035031 can jump in here too, but as far as I know she took a lot of her inspiration from San Fran and the movement taking place there in the 90s. In Ireland at that time we were going the opposite way. As an example, we had butchers starting to sell pre-packed meats in glow-in-the-dark sauce, etc. in an effort to compete with supermarkets. Even on the fresg veg side there was a total disconnect between producer and consumer. So, she founded the first Farmer’s Markets in Ireland (and is still very involved in helping to set up new markets). The goal was to have a “maker meets consumer” environment. Note again how supermarkets are trying to claw back some of the ground lost by showing pictures of the farmers on the labels and around the store.
I made the best soup in Ireland and possibly the Northern Hemisphere.
interesting and informative
Man can not live on bread alone.
I have to say this 16/8 is fantastic - I’ve shed a half stone in a week, just pure muscle now… I don’t even feel hungry until around 1pm now…
Whats your window mate? 1pm -9pm?
It’s actually 1.30- 7.30pm - I only ate two meals and a small chocolate treat.
2 big meals, bro? Does that no go against conventional wisdom? 4 or 5 small meals…
Not that big - soup and two slices of bread and regular dinner - or salad with bread and regualr dinner…
By conventional you mean old fashioned ?
That doesn’t sound like a lot of food, bro. Would you not be starving? Do you take a lot of supplements?
I’d be hungry when I get up around 8 but that passes and I find I don’t even think about food until around 1pm… i’d ate then around 6.30 ish again and would have a choco treat or nuts/fruit after it and that would be that…I’m not saying that’s the right amount, but we over eat in this country in a big way… I find I have far more clarity of thought - constant eating leads to insulin spikes that cloud your cognitive process… I also find i’ve far more energy throughout the day - i’m sleeping less and have more energy. Unreal.
That’s where the cigarettes come in
Jesus, no… smoking is a disgusting, filthy rotten habit.
Made savage Banana Bread last night, left it to cool and had a couple of slices before heading out to work. Outstanding way to start the day. You can’t have the banana’s black enough for top top Banana Bread…
