I suppose they’re above evens because Sri Lanka are already in the final whereas Australia still have a semi-final to play. The Aussies will be favourites alright but it’s by no means a foregone conclusion that they beat South Africa who have given them some cracking games recently and have no problems chasing big targets. Then Sri Lanka in the final is another tough game.
On merit Australia should win but if you didn’t back them before the start of the tournament I don’t see the value in backing them now.
Yeah, I agree with rocko that they’ll be expected to win it still but there’s hardly value betting them now if you missed out at the start. ODIs are funny in that all it takes is one batsman to hit out or one bowler to bowl an amazing spell and the whole game can be turned on its head. They should win it but they’re not dead certs by any means.
How far back to you want the odds to go back to?
I think they were around 7/4 but given that they were always going to get to the last 4 given the format of the tournament it’s hardly better value now that they’re at this stage.
2007-03-23 21:24:23 9/5
2007-03-18 00:02:36 7/4
2007-03-04 21:59:23 21/10
Theres a few prices around the start of tournament

And knowing that probably the 2 best rivals are standing between them and winning it. If they had New Zealand and England left or something then you’d say their chances would have improved over the start of the tournament but they’re still confronted by the two form ODI teams.

Bandage, they were 6/4 at the start in Ladbrokes. OK you might have got 2/1 on betfair but i dont agree that the value has gone
Well clearly the value has gone, thats not to say it’s still arelativly safe bet.
