Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, the company behind the male impotence drug Viagra, today said it is to close its manufacturing operations in Kent, resulting in more than 400 job losses.
The company said it will re-deploy some workers, while others will be given extra training to help them find alternative work.
The Kent factory is also home to one of the company’s key research and development programmes.
