Relatively unknown players to look out for

Scored a nice winner against Catania last week.

He’s signed for Napoli. €13.6m.

Lads, how good is Luuk De Jong?

He probably won’t be unknown to dedicated followers of Serie A but Mattia Destro is a player with a very big future in front of him. Just gone 21 and has netted 7 times in Serie A this season. Italy are extremely well catered in attack for the future, the u-21’s boast a lethal strike force with Borini, Destro and Paloschi all appearing regularly in Serie A this season. Gabbiadini hasn’t had got much of a look-in with Atalanta this season but scored his first Serie A goal recently and he has been rifling them in at u-21 level for Italy. Then you have the likes of Insigne, Fabbrini and El Sharaawy who play off the strikers. And of course Mario Balotelli who is still only 21. Anybody know when and where the Irish u-21’s are playing Italy in the Euro u-21 qualifiers?

I also forgot to mention Ciro Immobile in this. He’s the top scorer in Serie B this season with 23 goals. On loan from Juventus and co-owned with Genoa. 22 years old, video below.

Watching Pescara away at Varese now, they are trailing 2-1. Verratti just set up Inisgne there with a superb ball but Inisgne hit the post when he really should have scored.

Roma loanee Gianluca Carprari scored Pescara’s goal.

Luis Muriel, 20 year old Columbian attacker who scored a brace for Lecce against Roma at the weekend. He’s on loan from Udinese so you can expect him to be their next big thing. Inter, Milan and Roma have been credited with an interest in the past.

I’d like to include the Pescara trio of Marco Verratti, Lorenzo Insigne and Ciro Immobile. It’s rare to see players starring so brightly at a young age in Italy, even in Serie B so to have three in the same team - who are their sides most important players - and for that team to be by far the most impressive this season is especially unique.

Verratti (19) has been likened to Pirlo and many consider him to be his successor in the national team, very small and lightweight he may be but his awarenss, vision and execution of his passes are outstanding. He’s being strongly linked to a summer move to Juventus.

Insigne (20), who I’ve mentioned before in this thread, is currently on loan from Napoli. He’s had an outstanding season scoring 17 goals in Serie B. Like Verratti, Insigne is tiny, standing at only 5 ft 4. He’s a superb dribbler and very similar in style to Giovinco - given his style and both taking up the same position. Insigne seems to possess a stockier build than Giovinco and looks to me more physically robust and pacier.

Immobile (22) is on loan from Juventus, he is co-owned with Genoa and leads the scoring charts in Serie B with 29 goals. He’s a big strapping centre forward who is a deadly finisher given the chance. He is also extremely good in the air.

I’ve been very impressed with 20 year old Serbian left back Filip Mladenovic, it looks like the Serbs will have another world class left back on their hands in addition to Kolarov. Filip plays for Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.

Here is a video of Filip in action.

Panagiotis Tachtsidis.

Parma have signed the ‘new Cavani’. He is 19 years old and also hails from Uruguay, his name is Gonzalo Mastriani.

JordY Clasie.

A few Serie B players to keep an eye out for in the years to come. The first is Bruno Fernandes, he is an 18 year old Portuguese midfielder who looks like the new Rui Costa and plays for Novara. The second is Domenico Berrardi who is also 18 and plays as a striker for table toppers Sassuolo and has netted 10 goals this season. Both face off today in Serie B and both have netted with score at 2-2.

Both have been linked with Roma recently.

I saw Club Brugge’s Colombian striker Carlos Bacca bang a couple in on the telly a few weeks ago and thought he looked quite the player. He has 22 goals in 25 games this season, or something like that.

Colombia have one of the strongest pools of attacking talent in the game today, Falcao, James, Muriel, Martinez and Ibarbo are all top class as well.

They both scored screamers in yesterday’s match, Bruno Fernandes with the first for Novara and Berardi with Sassuolo’s first.

this is my favourite thread on TFK

some great insights into players that will be the backbone of our national team for year to come
Lorenzo Insigne, 20 years old attacker who plays for Pescara (on loan from Napoli).

Scored two goals on his u-21 debut for Italy.

Was on loan at Foggia last season in Serie C1 (Italian third tier, equivalent of League One), where he scored 19 times under the tutelage of the great Zdenek Zeman. He has joined up with Zeman again this season in Serie B with Pescara and has started off similarly brightly, 2 in 6.

Haven’t seen much action of him yet bar a few snippets on youtube but the Italian press are gushing about him at the minute. He only stands 5ft4 so he’s very similar to Giovinco in both stature and style of play.
Both these lads on target today. Only a matter of time before Ibarbo moves to a big Italian team.

Any FM 2013 player will tell you little Inzigne is a star in the making.
