A bloodied nose today for the so called impartial State Broadcaster, Ray Dâarcy and their pro-abortion agenda:
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has issued a formal âWarning Noticeâ to RTE against The Ray DâArcy Showâs coverage of the abortion issue.
The notice from the broadcasting watchdog follows a third complaint against RTE, relating to its coverage of the campaign to change Irish abortion laws and the discussion of abortion.
The decision has been welcomed by the Pro Life Campaign, who declared it âsignificantâ in the ongoing campaign against media bias on the abortion issue.
It has called on RTĂ to âfinally admit there is a serious problem regarding bias at the station and that itâs time to demonstrate how concrete and verifiable steps will be taken to address the situation.â
In a statement the Pro Life Campaign said: âThe dual issues of accountability and impartiality runs much deeper than The Ray DâArcy Show. For example, from June - July 2016, RTĂ Radio 1, afforded 81 minutes airtime to the pro-choice side and a pathetic four minutes to the pro-life viewpoint. With each new instance of one-sided coverage, public trust in RTĂ is evaporating. RTĂâs refusal to address the problem is also doing a huge disservice to those working in RTĂ who take care to be impartial.â
The complaint relates to an interview from June 9 in which Irish couple Gaye and Gerry Edwards discussed travelling to England for an induced delivery after their son was diagnosed with a fatal foetal abnormality.
The BAI concluded that the audience of The Ray DâArcy Show should have been made aware that the interviewees were members of a campaigning organisation seeking to change lrish law and not simply people telling their personal story.
RTE said in a statement today that âit notes and accepts the decision of the BAI. As requiredâ.
âRTĂ will provide the BAI with a plan to ensure there is no re-occurrence of the issues identified.â
In its latest decision, the BAI pointed out that this âwas the third occasion on which complaints have been upheldâ in respect of abortion coverage on The Ray DâArcy Show. They described it as âa matter of concern for the [BAI] Committee.â
Formal sanctions may be made against the national broadcaster if the matter is not remedied by RTE to the BAIâs satisfaction.
The BAI concluded that the broadcast did not comply with the fairness, objectivity and impartiality requirements of the Broadcasting Act 2009.
The Committee also rejected RTĂâs contention that a subsequent interview on The Ray DâArcy Show corrected any imbalance that may have occurred, noting that this later interview did not touch on the abortion debate in any meaningful way.
Earlier this year, the BAI upheld a complaint relating to Ray DâArcyâs interview with Graham Linehan and his wife Helen last October, in which the pair discussed their abortion experience.
Two complaints were lodged with the BAI, the first of which stated that âthe presenter promoted his personal view in respect of abortionâ and added that his guestsâ comments on abortion should have been challenged. Another complained that DâArcy was âcompletely unfair and biasedâ during the interview.
The couple spoke as part of Amnesty Internationalâs Sheâs Not a Criminal campaign, which is seeking to repeal the Eighth Amendment of the constitution.
The BAI said the interview breached its code of fairness, objectivity and impartiality in news and current affairs.
It also upheld complaints against the show last December following an interview with Amnesty International director Colm OâGorman, also regarding the issue of abortion.
In a statement the state broadcaster said: âRTĂ notes and accepts the decision of the BAI. As required, RTĂ will provide the BAI with a plan to ensure there is no re-occurrence of the issues identified.â
The BAI is a joke.

I donât think thatâs what they do though. Having someone on from the Iona institute as a counter point to every pro choice or pro marriage equality or such issue voice is not balance.
So who would you suggest DâArcy should have on then? Delighted to see the smug metrosexual cunthooks get his comeuppance. He continuously uses the airways, for which he is paid an obscene amount of our money to inhabit, to drive his own poxy agendas. A doctor said yesterday at this citizens assembly that a few years ago Iceland legalised the ability to test for down syndrome at early stages of pregnancy. There was no down syndrome child born in Iceland last year. None.
You can only go with your conscience.
Can it be fixed before birth or are you suggesting termination? Do they not deserve to live?
Also Iceland has a population smaller than Cork, would it really be that big an anomaly if there wasnât a child born in Cork with DS in a given year?

I would say it would be an anomaly yes.about 70k babies born in ireland each year and think approx 1 in 500 will be DS.
It is termination thatâs eliminated it yeah. You can get the test done here I think privately if you pay yourself. Was neither offered or suggested to us at any point for both of ours.
Definitely not suggesting they donât deserve to live. I think itâs absolutely disgusting tbh. Itâs quite common but v controversial in the UK as test apparently leads to higher incidence of a miscarriage and is claimed to lead to an increased rate of terminations.

That was the older type of test. The new one is not invasive and is more accurate.
âVisionariesâ like Ivana Badchips and Robinson see this as wonderful news because it means women are no longer vessels to hold a child for 9months and can decide not to carry a disabled child to term. Along with the sex selective abortions that without any shadow of a doubt take place it means their agenda of abortion on demand for no reason will happen in Ireland. Cunts.

We got offered that test in Beijing about 6 years ago before the little lady came along. The doctor was pretty good and specialized in this area. Offered us the test but told us about the Pandoras box weâd be opening in case of âunfavorableâ results.
