You’re making it sound like Trap was a good manager.
Trap was what Trap was. His style wasn’t for everyone but he was pretty consistent in terms of how he wanted his team to play and how he picked players.

And? Trap valued loyalty and how players performed at international level. John O’Shea and Stephen Kelly were also premier league regular right backs at the time as well. Why would you take three right backs? The other two were more experienced and had played well in qualifying.
Wes didn’t fit the tactics which Trap picked, you can argue the rights and wrongs of it but we were a rigid 4-4-2 side there was no place for Wes. As i said earlier, he was a nice player but his ability completely over stated.
that’s bollocks. Wes started the first two games in Euro 2016 when he was four years older. He was dropped against Italy, came on late to setup Brady’s winner.
Ireland have had a reluctance to pick creative midfielders since Jackie Fucking Charlton ruined Irish Soccer
Against the worst Bulgarian side to ever represent their country
none of our starters set up 2 goals kid, against the same side.
Sounds like it could be a complete mudbath of a pitch in Geneva tonight
The rain is a great leveller.
any chance it’ll be cancelled and we both get 2 points?
The rain is great news
All the fucking money the cunts have you’d think they could drain a pitch ffs
By the sounds of it there are a few mushrooms to be harvested off it too
Trap is widely known as one of the most decorated mangers in Europe, but Eamon Dunphy and the boys think they know better.
You could not make it up.
Ireland, Ireland
I can confirm I’m not confident about tonight. And seeing as I was confident against Georgia and we didn’t win, I’m taking that as proof that we will win and betting accordingly
he was decorated before the back pass change came in. he was successful up until the end of the 80’s
I had a nap there earlier and prayed to the Gods for a victory tonight I then awoke to pictures of the pitch cut up in shit and rain still pouring down, Gods will.
Keep it 0-0 for as long as we can and then try to nick it late on…
All our big wins in recent years have followed that pattern - Germany (H), Wales (A), Austria (A), Italy at the Euros in 2016 etc.
We just lack goals in the team. We also lack ability in almost every position in the field.
If we concede first it’s over, no chance of us scoring two away from home against a decent side.
I’m thinking of the ambush of Man United by Mick McCarthy’s Wolves on a rain-soaked Molineux and I’m feeling positive.
Don’t disregard the draw that would automatically put the dour Danes through with us to play them in the final game.
