Republic of Ireland v Portugal - 11/11/2021

Is Robbie still under contract?

Probably the hungry bastard

Next Ireland manager will be Steve Bruce. Sure his son plays for us.

Sadlier getting hysterical here. Chippy has him rattled.

Lock her up!!

At the start I was an extreme Kenny doubter. I have gradually been won over over the last few months.

He has overhauled the squad hugely and there is a style of play and the players do seem to be buying into it. I think the worst thing we could do now is ditch the project. Wales had a good few years in the doldrums from around 2006-2010 under John Toshack but were developing all the time and started coming good around 2011 under Gary Speed.

The way I see it is Kenny might not be the man to take us to a finals but he might be the man that develops a squad and a platform that could take us to a finals down the line where we might hope to not just make up the numbers.

Brady still talking bollocks. You either act after Luxembourg or you give Kenny another campaign. But you can’t be making decisions on ho the manager should be based on friendlies in the early part of 2022.

Brady asks Sadlier a question, won’t let him answer it, and then launches into saying the same things he’s said three times already. Time to put old man Brady out to pasture.

An interesting point by Sadler there.

If we decided to sack Kenny after the Nations League as Brady suggested then the new manager is coming in cold straight into the Euro campaign.

I wonder was Kenny lucky that Pepe didn’t get sent off earlier. We didn’t make much after he was gone, although we did move the ball well. 30 minutes if that wouldn’t have been impressive.

Awful match for Kenny v Luxembourg , they’ll be full of confidence after tonight’s win …

Bossman Steo’s talking bollocks now. It was an obvious foul on the goalkeeper.

:vulcan_salute: is an oddball

So sack him now

Kenny sounded almost human there. Flushed with the nil all victory.

That’ll be the match that’ll make or break him. Well break him in terms of a defeat.

I was thinking that despite all the talk about Portugal having an eye on Sunday’s match, Kenny certainly should have an eye on his one.

Haven’t seen the interview but I knew he’d fixate on that. Ireland score that goal because the Portuguese defence stop and assume it’s a foul.

Is that a win of sorts for him regards managing expectations? I mean the fact that beating Luxembourg in a match will be enough to keep him in a job …If that was suggested at start of campaign you’d be laughed out of the place…

That’s a very ageist comment in fairness.

Incorrect. He did call a friend of mine that term however.
