Everyone should stand outside the door at 9pm singing uh ah up the rah in support of the girls. Jist like when people were out clapping the nurses in the pandemic.
PR disaster my bollox. The only people who give a fuck are some bigots in the occupied 6, and some smug cunts on UK tv. Nobody else in the world cares. Keano praised Cork hurling on MNF on Sky a few days ago. Iâm surprised Bryson and the other midget bigots havenât ranted about him praising a âterrorist and sectarian sporting organisationâ on UK tv.
The GVA (Graffiti Victims Alliance) will have a representative on The 6 One news later detailing how they feel the Irish ladies are promoting vandalism through the song.
Those who are defending the singing of the song are the same people who get most outraged if songs about the famine or âwe hate Catholicsâ or Michaela McAreavey are sung.
They either donât realise or donât want to realise or are actually happy that they are the other side of that coin.
I dont think the outraged-on Twitter even realise just how common a song it is though among young people.
I was at a house party in Cork the night John OâShea got the 94th minute equaliser against the Germanâs in Gelsenkirchen and at full time Celtic Symphony came on the speakers and sung with gusto.
But soccer chants bring out the worst in people. A friend of mine was at the Arsenal v Liverpool game at the weekend and said that the Arsenal fans had an absolutely disgraceful chant going about Sean Cox which would turn anyoneâs stomach.
Everybody knows how common it is. Itâs been like that for a long time. The point is it shouldnât be. Ironically I think an unintentional reinforcer of it was the Rubberbanditsâ Up The Ra song which was meant to ridicule barstool Republicanism, but like Ross OâCarroll-Kelly, ultimately served to glorify the very culture it was making fun of.
The very people who recite slogans like âthe outraged on Twitter brigadeâ tend to be the very same people who were most celebrating the public shaming including losing their jobs of those who sing offensive songs on the âother sideâ, ie. they are the outraged on Twitter brigade.
This is the irony.
For the record Iâm pleased the FAI and the team have apologised and I think that should be the end of the matter as long itâs made clear it doesnât ever happen again and that any repeats will be looked at with less forgiveness.
Itâs a very catchy tune with a hook which encourages everyone to join in.
Were they not singing âOoo aa up Vera, I said Ooo aa up Vera?â
I was singing âOh ahh up Veraâ. Hans Moleman 2022.
Any word on the status of the leaker. Hopefully sheâll get a wink of sleep tonight and inform Frau Pauw tomorrow of her decision to leave the squad.
In fairness, how could you continue as a unit with a colleague whoâs first decision is to rush to social media and drop them all in the shitâŚâŚ
Out, out outâŚ.
Canât help but feel that Tony OâDonoghue is largely to blame here. He was present in Glasgow and, if heâs as close to the squad and management as reported, he really should have warned them of the pitfalls of increased fame and scrutiny.
I fucking knew it was him. Even when I wasnât saying it was him I was telling myself it was him
Can we come up with a list of appropriate songs Irish teams can celebrate with?
World of our own - Westlife
Some blueshirt on the radio earlier saying they should have been singing Paul Brady or the Cranberries instead like he did when he was a lad
They should do the honourable thing and withdraw from the world cup.

By the way, someone needs to inform the media its a Scottish song, not an Irish song*
*I think
Do you mean the Wolfe Tones song?
