Yep, we can put him in the same category as Mick Mackey.
Not gonna lie.
That’ll cut a lot of the two in a row stuff out for a while
Headshot
Ah come on ,obviously single handedly
revolutionising the way the game was played earns Mackey a seat at the top table . Don’t think anyone can argue against it
So good that I’d say even a small few of the Limericks would find a spot for him in the match day panel
A real joy to watch when on his game, must have been a bit frustrating on the off days, so much talent
Definitely in the top 2 Seamus’s with yellow helmet, No 14 and socks pulled up this century.
And the second best Tipp forward with yellow helmets and socks pulled up of the last 15 years.
Seamie letting the socks fall down was the making of him as a hurler. Night and day difference.
No
Ah he wasn’t better than Lar. Would take a Tippo opinion on it though. Thought Lar was a bit of magic
Eoin Kelly was better than all of them anyway. Would Callinan make the front 6 on an all time Tipp team? English, Ryan, Kelly and that’s modern enough era.
A great player no doubt. And a man when he had the ball in hand against you, you knew you were in trouble
He was better and did it for longer. How many good years did Lar have?
Callanan was terrifying
Would have said longevity was the big mark against Callinan. He was rubbish his first few years and faded fast
Lar, to my knowledge, never found out who broke into his bar that time. That surely takes a few marks off his Hall of Fame credentials?
Lar was good for maybe 5 seasons. His hamstring was made from cheese strings between 2002 and 2009
That totally trumped the 3 goals in 2015 IMHO, the fact he didnt win HOTY was a travesty, especially as it was that show pony Gleeson that won it, to be fair (wash mouth🤣) Seamie was a great player, Gleeson had potential but rising 29 he’ll never get any better, he’s well behind McGrath, Mullane and Flynn in the best Deise hurlers I’ve seen,
Gleeson getting HOTY in 2016 in front of him was an injustice
Naw, he was a genuine sniper truth he told
Callanan was the best of them all in Tipp.
4x HOTY Nominees is extraordinary stuff and his goalscoring record is unparalleled in the modern era.
3-20 from play in 7x All Ireland Finals against Brian Cody Kilkenny teams. They couldn’t handle him at all bar 2011 when he had a mare.
The 2015 display against Galway was one of the best ever. 3-04 from play on a team where nobody else turned up.
