Nice one! Well wear.
There seems to be a huge mark up in furniture. We were shopping around a while back and it was difficult to find anything we liked below €3k. We visited a place thou where there was a 123 half leather suite marked at €2250. Got talking to Bernice the sales girl and the best she could do was €2100 delivered. I said we’d think about it and moved on. Mrs B had fallen in love with it thou and we decided to go back next day. I looked for Bernice but she was off so Sally was helping us out. ‘‘Hi Sally we were here yesterday and Bernice was saying she’d do this suite at €1900 delivered’’ said I. ‘‘Let me just check that for you sir’’ she said. Mrs B fuming. Sally returns ‘‘Sir I am afraid there is a €50 delivery charge on that, is that OK?’’
‘‘So it’s €1950?’’
‘‘Yes sir I am afraid so’’
Mrs B - ‘‘Do you take card?’’

Got caught with that myself, the extra care coverage etc. Told yoyrman to shove it up his hole im already pay x amount for the fucking thing. I rang around to cost cleaning the furniture to keep her happy, me man said he jas the contract for that policy, take it out amd ring them every 6 months saying you had a spill, he’ll come and clean it, charge them what he would charge if we did have an accident. Youll get your moneys worth but dont tell them i told you

Nah, we’re currently on our second suite of leather. It’s a corner suite and I don’t like it. We decided to get a bit of a revamp pin the living room. We’re in the house 20 years now. Got the kitchen done a couple of years back, the two bathrooms during the summer gone. Have a painter coming next week as we decided to invest a few bob in the living room after the crimbo

They saw you coming

Thankfully no

Was in Avoca cafe today and saw a slice of cheesecake for 8.50. Got a bigger slice out in the shop for 4.95. Just tucking it into it now. Nom nom.

You’d buy a perfect own brand cheesecake in Supervalu for a fiver

Cheesecake is muck in fairness.

You haven’t had a toblerone one yet

The Avoca baked cheesecake is as good as it gets.

There’s no good cheesecake

Its hard to credit where the latest round of price hikes have come from. There was definitely a surge in demand and a sustained brisk trade throughout month of December. Busier than last few years without doubt. People were definitely a bit more flaithíulach when it came to spending. It was probably first real proper christmas post covid where all caution was thrown to the wind so to speak.

That been said with energy prices stablising and likes of supermarket chains kicking off a price war you’d have to think prices might abate a bit. Then I saw the below the other day. Wife eats these and sent me to the shop to get a box. Almost €7 for what is effectively half a box of air when you open it. I couldnt justify it.
Separately then another 20 cent onto the price of toll following a 20 cent price hike a few months ago. A lot of traffic now reverting to secondary roads via Watergrasshill, Rathcormac clogging up town of Fermoy again.
Concept of Price elasticity of demand is clearly lost amongst some.

The Chipp lads are the canary in the mine here

Absolutely. Cheesecake is an evil bastard of a confection.

Minimum wage increase by 12.5% on Jan 1st on top of load of other wage factors like pension auto enrolment etc have made Ireland v expensive place to do business v quickly…said it before on here there is gonna be a bloodbath in hospitality in the short term

No justification for the tolls tho really…who owns them the government??

The government argument as I recall it was that if we didn’t raise the cost it would put off future investors
