Transport Infastructure Ireland implemented the increases. Yeah the minimim wage increases will do it alright. Was saddened to see an institution of StPatrick st Tung Sing close after generations of trading. Had my first beef and blackbean sauce there. They wont be the last either as you alluded to.
Limerick Tunnel is privately owned for the next twenty years or so as far as I understand, with the state owned TII topping up receipts when traffic falls below certain levels.
Most of those cereals come in from UK now don’t they where it seems the price of everything has gone through the roof from Brexit etc. Are there extra costs now in shipping it to Ireland I wonder?
I think there will be a long and hard reckoning for all this at some point, because eventually the MNC’s will find the cheaper costs elsewhere will outweigh the inconvenience.
Undoubtedly there would be
I was told to bring back Spanish extra virgin olive oil from Dunnes when I was going back to the Iberian peninsula after Christmas. It’s cheaper in Ireland per litre than Spain.
Sure Irish Whiskey and Beer is cheaper in Spain than in Ireland
A lot of the costs that are biting the hardest for the most won’t impact MNC who have v few min wage employees, already provide pensions etc…but for the MNC the indirect impact will hit with cost of living spiralling amd no housing being two massive issues…
I know , but olive oil….
Demand I suppose …
They seen the big 5 series pulling in and started rubbing the hands.
Nash 19 in cork announced it’s closing yday. Been trading for 30 years. While since I was in there but would have thought it was a very busy established spot. Closed with immediate effect down to increased business costs
Did you see the reviews?
What reviews?
Like Gil I haven’t called in there in years but it was always popular and Clare Nash done a lot for small restaurateurs in Cork City
Was passed by a 24 plate rangerover (Galway) this morning. The cars are back towards tiger levels in Galway. Lots of new SUV’s about. BMW is like a Mondeo.
She treats her staff like utter shit.
I did yesterday ya…don’t know was she gone off the deep end or what but I’d never heard anyone saying a bad word about the place…apart from how expensive it was
Ah right.
I never heard anything like that, I hate that shit
Pressure can cause people to behave poorly
True, and I’m sure it was a cause.
But, at the end of the day, that’s no real excuse for treating people poorly.
Plus it makes customers very uncomfortable; I generally wouldn’t go back to a place where the management are openly rude to staff, regardless of how nice the food would be.
