If I had one of these 70 or 80k cars I’d be afraid to drive it or park it anywhere in case it got a ding.
I had an auld shit heap 07 until last year when it gave up. Having a shit car is great you can park it wherever. Don’t have to worry about someone opening the door onto the car and scratching it or something. And no self respecting joyrider was going to be seen dead in my yoke.
Went up to a 16 now which will hopefully get a good few years out of. It is nice to have some of the newer features the more modern car offers. But it makes zero difference really.
Funnily enough the mother of one of my daughters school friends went up my hole at a roundabout on the Dock Road a couple of months ago, did a small bit of damage,
I was able to say ‘tis grand, don’t worry about it’
She was probably on her phone, no excuse for it, but she probably thinks I’m a great fella altogether
I don’t feel I can morally buy another diesel. Petrol possibly. Diesel should be banned imho. I know there are counter arguments but it’s noxious. It literally poisons the air everyone breathes. We have two of them and I feel bad everytime I start them.
In a similar boat. Have a 2013 diesel. Nearly 260k on the clock so I think I’ll drag another few years out of it. My Mrs doesn’t drive but has said she will start this year so I couldn’t give a hoot if she puts a few dents and extra scratches on this one. Doing a lot less driving these days myself so diesel makes no sense anyway. Hopefully something more environmentally friendly next time.
The newest car I ever bought was a four year old golf inside at Western Motors in Ennis. Think it cost me 9.5k with a trade in. I’d all the money saved up from freelance work over a year or two in the credit union. Took a small CU loan for last car but next job will be one I have the cash ready to spend.
