Road Deaths

Who was to blame for this? FFS sake. Fucking double manslaughter is what it is.

I saw the guards trying to keep fucking eejits from walking all over this scene this morning as they were trying to photograph it

A collision apparently. I suppose the man in his 80s needs to reflect on his decision to take a pair of shoes to a car fight…

Horrific news about the 5 young people that lost their lives last night in a crash in Louth. Condolences to all families and friends.

Dreadful for all their families ‘in the mouth of Christmas’ as my Mother used to say.

Details sketchy but there seems to have been 6 in a Golf which collided with a Landcruiser.
The Landcruiser is a formidable beast at any time between size, weight and power.

God help their families and friends and the light of Heaven to their youthful souls.

The words “Volkswagen Golf” as well as the fact that one person in the Golf was brought to hospital with non-life threatening injuries while the others are all dead do a lot of heavy lifting in the reporting.

You simply shouldn’t be having this amount of fatalities on a back road.

I travel that road quite a bit, especially if there’s traffic. It’s a handy back road into Dundalk, but it twists and turns quite a bit. Six in the car (for a car that takes five) by that deduction

Any idea what happened? Young ones tearing around in a golf?

are we running with the statistical probability the survivor was the driver?

That’s some list

:articulated_lorry: The Bluffer Trucker of Ballacolla :articulated_lorry:

Laois RPU conducted a routine HGV weight check operation in Ballacolla yesterday.
One Scania stood out for all the wrong reasons.

What we uncovered wasn’t a minor oversight.
It was a full breakdown in road safety standards…
:warning: Truck overweight with stone.
:warning: Not Insured.
:warning: Never Taxed.
:warning: No CVRT for over a decade.
:warning: No Tachograph in use.
:warning: Driver never held a truck category driving licence.
:warning: A Learner Permit that expired over 20 years ago.:man_facepalming:
:warning: False details given to Gardaí.
:warning: Active bench warrant for the driver.

When a HGV is unroadworthy and the person behind the wheel is unqualified, the danger isn’t hypothetical, it’s immediate, and it’s severe.

An overloaded truck affects braking, stability and steering.
A driver without the proper licence or training cannot safely handle those risks.

This is exactly why truck safety checks are carried out.
This stop prevented a serious incident before it happened.

Driver: Arrested and brought straight before Portlaoise District Court.:classical_building::balance_scale:
Truck: Seized :articulated_lorry:
