what do you make of this training camp with the Saints? Its one of the strangest ācustomsā you could call it in the NFL, having a couple of days training camps with other teams. makes sense I suppose, its kinda like challenge games, but not with crowds and gives an idea of how opposing teams do things.
I have been bro. Iām going to watch the preseason game tomorrow I reckon. Its a 12.30 game time. Iām particularly interested in how Gronkowski and Hernandez will get on (if they get much game time of course).
The mixed camp thing is weird alright. In the Hard Knocks series of 08 with the Cowboys it gives a great insight into them. Sometimes a coach off one team will tell players to ātagā the opposing team rather than tackle, this doesnt always mean the other coach will tell his players the same thingā¦
by all accounts, they have both added to goal line scoring situations, which has been the one big flaw of the team for the last couple of years. having a first down on the 5, and not end up with a TD. if a double set of tight ends produces more scores, then its all good. running game still doesnt sound like its coming on well tho, but wait and see I suppose. Welker still in a knee brace too, but at least heāll be back playing. if that knee goes tho weāre fooked.
Iām not mad on pre season games. actually, think they are pretty shit! Lions go 4-0 in pre season and then 0-16 after. I suppose its not bad to get a first look at rookies, but other than that they are little more than walk thrus at training camp

SAN DIEGO(AP) The San Diego Chargers spent a portion of Tuesday afternoonās practice working in the āWild Dog,ā a version of the wildcat formation featuring rookie running back and Fresno State Bulldog alum Ryan Mathews taking a direct snap.
The team did so last year as well, emulating a run-based formation made popular by the Miami Dolphins where a running back lines up behind center.
Then it was called the āWild Frogā in homage to now-departed running back and TCU alum LaDainian Tomlinson, who ran it a year ago.
āThe experiences we had with it - especially when you donāt use it much - were beneficial,ā coach Norv Turner said. āWeāre not going to major in it by any means.ā
The formation fits Mathewsā skill set. The No. 12 overall selection was a running quarterback in high school and can throw fairly well. The Chargers have options within the formation, given that receiver Legedu Naanee was a former quarterback and running back Darren Sproles can run and throw short passes well.
āThatās a good formation for us,ā Turner said. āThe thing I learned from watching Miami run it is that when everything gets spread out the back has room to improvise. With Ryan and Darren, we can do some of those things.ā
