I would consider the case of McIlroy to be analogous to that of Kevin Kilbane, except in reverse. McIlroy is a young British golfer, who happens to have grown up in Ireland, but represents Britain through his own choice. Of course there are differences, in that Kilbane plays a sport and he isn’t a complete cunt.
I find the the neediness a lot of Irish have to bask in others’ glory to be quite pathetic. If people want to bask in the reflected glory of golfers let it at least be when Irish players such as Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke win. I find the case of McIlroy to be no different to that of Damon Hill, who was voted “Sports Star of the Week” by the Irish Independent because he had a house in Dalkey, therefore, he was “Irish”. Pathetic.
He is Northern Irish. Considers himself more of a Brit than an Irishman. No issue with that in my book. People here should just respect his choice. Under the GFA, Northern Irish people can consider themselves Irish or British. McIllroy is in the latter camp as is his right.
Some achievement from the way he collapsed at the Masters last year to world number one now.
McIlroy going out with big bird is most likely a ruse to mask him being a gay. It’s a relationship of convenience, lets face it they would rarely get to see each other with both respective tour schedules.
Nice description of the kind of hypothetical sex McIlroy and Wozniacki would have if they could find time in their busy schedules to meet up once every six weeks.
