I dunno it’s possible his best isn’t good enough anymore against the likes morikawa, Rahm and Scottie scheffler. They weren’t about when he last won majors.

These younger lads are simply better than him. He’ll probably win another major at some point but he just can’t compete with the new bridge on a regular basis.

He’s 33. Nicklaus won his 18th major at 46 all the while competing against what was coming through.
McIlroy has the skills to reach double figures for majors but simply can’t find the consistency. Personally I think he’ll win another 1 or 2 but he’s finding it harder to see out the 4 days. The ever changing world with it’s attached commercialism doesn’t help him. Rahm for example is a more solid golfer than him but without Rory’s shot making ability.

It’s a younger man’s game now. I’m fairly sure of the worlds top ten he’s the oldest and every year there’s more younger players coming on the scene.
In fact I just looked 9 of the worlds top 10 are in their 20s. That’s surely never happened until recently.
He can win 100 majors if he wants. Once Augusta bypasses him, that will do

So you’re resigned to the possibility that at 33 his ship has sailed. Hasn’t it always been a young man’s game and the fact that some older guys - Nicklaus, Mickelson and their ilk were just stronger of mind and will and kept themselves at the top of their game….
For the greatest McIlroy fan here you’re getting the excuses in early this week.
Has the pace of golf picked up that it’s a young man’s game? I’d imagine 30-40 would be prime golfing years as you have your game figured out.
Age is irrelevant, having a bit of bottle is key
9 of the top 10 in the world being in their 20s tells a completely different story of course.
I don’t think Rory is as good as Phil. He can’t even be mentioned in the same breadth as Nicklaus.
