When he was at Forest, if they won on a Saturday, he’d go up to Clough and ask for a few days off - Clough would tell him ‘I’ll see you Thursday, son’. If they lost, he’d just have to suck it up and stay around Nottingham.
That stopped at United though. The Boss was having none of that.

I worked at the same place as his brother Pat for a while. Sound out, they’re the blub off each other. Pat was a baller too.

Pat was a good player, a year ahead of me, often played against him but he didn’t have anywhere near Roy’s drive,
Funnily enough he improved greatly as a player when Roy hit the big time, you’d never have marked him out as a LOI player
