Roy Keane - Sky Sports Pundit / Walkers Leprechaun / Adidas Champion

The Dutch were a bit of a tactical mess that day if truth told and they missed chances .

No Seedorf, no Davids, no party.

Silly comparison regarding daviDS. Viera should have been a better player, but he wasn’t.

Look, you have to give him loads of credit really. He’s the classic “hard man”/ “villain” in the soap opera which is the EPL. Sky Sports made him a fan favourite and a very wealthy man by playing up to this image, focusing on the controversy he created like the Haaland fiasco, tunnel bust ups, stamping on players, digging the head off shearer, Saipan etc. All wonderful promotion for the Premier League and the fanboys particularly his cork based fan club bought it hook, line and sinker.

The highlights reel of his career is stacked with controversy and violence, not footballing ability.

This.

When he tested himself at a proper level, he got destroyed by a postie in the Scottish Cup

We didn’t actually.

And Dunne was shit in his first few internationals.

We did.

The Dunney Monster was outstanding against Van Nistelrooy and Kluivert…

He was in me hole.

He was outstanding in that game.

He was awful, as he was against the Portuguese.

Bullshit.

Against the Portuguese him and Staunton were car crash stuff. Keane bailed them out on numerous occasions.

I’m talking about the game against the Dutch, you said he was awful, that is bullshit, he was arguably Ireland’s best player.

So you concede he was muck against the Portuguese?

He was also poor against the Dutch as well.

Ok, you’re doubling down on this scutter.

Do you think if he was an average footballer, Ferguson would have kept him around United with all that controversy.

Ferguson got rid of bigger names than Keane for less

Keane was a fantastic footballer , had a great engine and inspired players to play at a higher level … no one is saying he is one of the world’s greatest ever … but he was a top, top player. His performances against Portugal and Holland in that qualifying campaign were phenomenal - I was at the home Portugal game and he was head and shoulders above every player on the pitch… He had plenty of faults also, but who hasn’t.

Never commented on that. I’m just calling out your bullshit revisionism on the Dutch game. Dunne was easily one of Ireland’s best players in that match.

Well I’m asking you to comment on it now.

No way was Dunne one of our best players against the Dutch. We were poxed to win that match truth be hold.
