This new poster @ChairmanDan seems to completely dismissing the current world rankings , are the rugby crew playing possum here? Constantly talking up the opposition, seems to be the thing now, a real dampening of expectations.
For gods sake. Ireland have just destroyed their main opposition in a handy game. Of the eight best teams that will be left in the competition they get to play one of the lower order teams, the fifth. They have three very soft games ahead of that to prepare. It couldnât be set up any better. If they do win the quarter final which of course they should they will likely face the worst team of the last four in the semis. How could this be set up any better for Ireland?
World rankings are based over four years. Over the last four years in European soccer Real Madrid have been the best team. Those that make them currently the best team in Europe? Nope. They are a rabble. Itâs very simple.
If they were playing anybody else bar New Zealand or South Africa who are the two best teams in the world it could be going better. You made a silly sweeping statement. Things are going well for Ireland. They could always be going better. Just give up.
All other teams are playing catch up with Real Madrid though.
Surely the fact that Ireland only achieved Nr 1 ranked team in the World a couple of weeks ago alludes to some decent current form as well or a slump in the form of the teams ranked above them, either way they are climbing the rankings.
Thatâs a stupid response. New Zealand and Ireland are the two best teams in the world. Itâs a simple fact and itâs bizarre that the rubby crowd try to deny it and talk down Ireland and talk up weaker teams.
Based on what? Ireland will be the underdogs v South Africa. Thereâs nobody going to price Ireland as favorites to beat South Africa. Youâve completely lost the plot.
The fact the world number 1 side changed three times in two weeks tells you everything. If Wales beat us twice theyâd be the number one side. Also New Zealand and boks played less games in the the warm games and weaker opposition. Wins v top ranked sides count for more.
more shifting lines⌠When Ireland beat NZ lads were going estatic about being world no.1⌠Now we are being told to dismiss these rankings totally as they mean nothingâŚits very hard to keep up with trends in the rubby world.
The rubby crowd would prefer to talk up the opposition and get the excuses in early for crashing out in another quarter final. Theyâre conditioned for it.
I for one am happy that Ireland got that win today and that the tournament is perfectly set up for them.
In warm games when both teams fielded significantly weaker teams. If New Zealand had played the same weekend v South Africa. Either would have number one. Itâs aamzing lads canât get their head around it.
