Turnarounds.
Not guaranteed. Probably yes but not 100 percent.
The heat, the conditions, the referee, the six day turnaround - anything else we are forgetting?
Thatās it sid.
Humidity. We hopefully wonāt be playing japan. They are the host nation. Iād say the other countries will struggle with it too but the japs will be used to it. I presume as the tournament goes on you get more used to it.
By the time the knock outs come the heat & humidity will have dropped significantly thus giving us a great chance to coast to victory.
Itāll be fuckin baltic by the time the final comes around.
Ireland! Ireland! Ireland!
Englandās games against Argentina and France are 5:00 and 5:15 kick-offs respectively
They are fucked for the quarter-final
Explain how Ireland would not have qualified with two bonus point wins from their last two games if they hadnāt got the losing bonus point today?
We were told that ireland did very intensive training in the heat in Portugal in preperation.
Thatās dry heat you numpty
Arenāt we great?
So management got prep all wrong???
Japan, as good as they were today, have never beaten New Zealand in two friendlies, have they?

Ireland would only be able to get to 15. Scotland with 3 bonus points wins would leave them on 15. Japan are now on 9 points. A bonus point defeat to Scotland and a bonus point win would leave them on 15 points. It would then go to scoring difference.
Thereāll be a few more twists in Pool A yet. Wouldnāt be discounting prospects of Ireland winning pool. Itās all much of a muchness anyway as to which of the two best teams in the world, New Zealand or South Africa that Ireland face in the quarter final.
Just illustrates how good a job of preperation Big Mick McCarthy did in 2002 when we managed to get out of the group and return home undefeated despite the conditions and short turnaround.
Coach Schmidt really should have consulted with a manager from a real sport as part of his prep.
Did Ireland play either of the host teams in 2002?
In all four matches in 2002, Eire were noticeably fresher than their opponents as the matches wore on
I expect Mick to become sports science adviser to the Dublin Gaelic football team when he steps down from Eire
