Anything that gives them nations a boost and improves competition is to be welcomed. Think NZ often got unfair criticism on it though, Piutau for example was born and raised in Auckland.
I hate rugby but I must say I do enjoy the World Cup. Thereās a lovely pattern to it. You can almost see the knots the runny heads tie themselves up in. They give 4 years telling us friendlies are test matches and of crucial importance only to start giving it the poor mouth saying ābeating NZ in a World Cup will be differentā and trying to tell us that losing a quarter final (again) is somehow still acceptable for the no 1 team in the world.
Then itās hype, denial, getting their holes opened by Argentina, the KPMG report, pissing down fellas legs, rape trialsā¦rinse and repeat. I love it.
You really shouldnāt hate a sport.
I can, and do, hate whatever I want
Id say itās as much a love of likes as hate of sport with these lads
It isnāt good for you anyway. Itās a sport.
Youād almost feel more embarrassed for lads handing out likes for the same lazy schtick than the poor souls who need a bit of an easy ego boost and donāt have to do too much work for it bar repeat the same cliches.
I do like a good like, in fairness.
That deserves a nice post
A reach around with quick dopamine hits. Itās down to a half dozen of them from the highs of a few years ago.
Iām against it as you should pick one nation and stick. It has gone very like football where you have the embarrassing situation of Declan Rice, for example.
Counter to that, the 5 year eligibility rule is now very fair.
Itās gaa lads who are seething because instead of the build up to two all Ireland finals Itās rugby, rugby and more rugby all day every day around Ireland.
Ah no itās a good rule. You canāt blame those players for wanting to go play for NZ and make a stronger career out of it but enabling them to play for their home countries again helps those countries a lot. Itās the least they can do.
If you hate a sport itās all going very wrong for you anyway.
People all have different preferences for what sport they like. Itās the way of the world.
I think the FIFA rule is now less than 4 competitive fixtures. Iād like to see a cap on it, though Iāll never be a fan.
1- I attended a good few leinster evening games in the rds in the 07/08 season. Great evenings of pints and a bit of craic and some rugby.
2- During this time i made up the Bernard Jackman chant, later sold as a t shirt.
3 - During that period i had a savage run of picking first tryscorer at the bewkies. Ill always love Shane 12-1 Horgan.*
And Tiffany.
You canāt really compare the two sports, soccer is the biggest sport in the world and rugby is a niche sport played by very few countries really.
Niche sports like hurling and rugby are great. Rugby is doing a lot more to increase its popularity all the same.
Itās a bit irrelevant. Itās more about population flows and migration & what is fair/unfair.
Jesus we should have known the Celtic Tiger was about to come to an abrupt end once the likes of yourself started going to the rugby. The Joe Kennedy shoeshine moment for Ireland.
