In fairness Houghton, Townsend, Cascarino?
Itās time we all get behind the lads. Iām on record as being anti-rugby supporter shite but itās churlish to cheer against any Irish team that could win a world tournament.
Weāll never win a World Cup in any of our lifetimes. Winning a Rugby World Cup would be great for our island. Thereās the bonus of all the former rugby players weāve grown to hate being sickened to the core that they arenāt on the team to do it.
In fairness thereās a much larger playing pool worldwide and nationally for soccer so itās much more difficult to make it as a professional. By comparison most medium sized towns would have a decent rugby player whoād be on regional teams and therefore not a million miles off international underage standard. If you make it at Leinster these days youāre basically in the reckoning to play top tier international rugby.
That completely doesnāt change the fact for your random soccer fan at home thinking they could have made it with a bit of luck
Your random soccer fan is an idiot so. Barring they actually had real ability.
The TV viewing figures donāt lie. This is rugby country.
Soccerheads and Gahliban fall in!
8pm on a Saturday every Saturday is great Tv scheduling.
In terms of supporters rugby really is the peopleās game.
Over in Paris youāll see all sorts from all over the country.
Mack Hansen went from pulling pints in a bar to international rugby in the amount of time it takes to grow a moustache
Genius.
The data does not support this.
Iād feel sorry for Cian Healy.
Could losing bonus points come into play Saturday?
This isnāt the gaa round robin where itās impossible to get knocked out.
There seems to be a perception that if we donāt win it now weāll never win a World Cup. I couldnāt disagree more. Our underage results and player pathway would suggest that weāll still have a strong team in 2027 and will surely have an easier draw.
