Rugby World Cup 2023/ Crochet & Knitting chit chat

I like POM and in fairness he’s been excellent in the last 2 seasons, which has driven them on in a big way, but I think 7 is a specialist position that needs lads playing there consistently. It might make fuckall difference against the Romanians tomorrow but it’s certainly a risk that wasn’t necessary with the additional slots available in the squads this year.

Looks to me they’ve put a massive emphasis on versatility which is fair enough.

No point in carrying hodnett if he isn’t a starter as he won’t make the bench.

You could see henshaw or bundee lose out on the bench over Jimmy o Brien.

Looks like Crowley is ahead of Byrne too.

Seems we’ve another embarrassment of riches in the back row. Incredible how we have this every 4 years.

Jesus the anticipation is off the charts for another RWC. Potential for shocks in every group. France will be a great host as well. Rugby is truly a global game now . God bless the rubby

Savage. Whats the plan?

The U2 Irish bar will be absolutely rocking. No doubt you’d catch up with some of the Istanbul ottomans squad in there

Oh rugby mate. Stopping random locals on the street and asking them “what happens if Sexton gets injured?” Type questions

Savage. Enjoy. Try to take in some of the local sights while you’re there as well

They wouldn’t carry an extra 7 on the bench as too specialist.

Would imagine they’ve Hodnett on standby as only couple hours flight and brought in if any sign of an injury to VDF.

Will the patrons in Paris respect the Haka like the below in 2004?

It’s not so much for matchday but I don’t think Hodnett has even been capped at test level yet (maybe Emerging Ireland). Surely the Italy match or one of the other two would’ve been a great chance to look at a new 7 properly. It’s a case now where we might end up throwing him in for his debut against a monster pack like South Africa. At least if Porter goes down there’s still lads like Kilcoyne and Loughman who’d have had gametime recently.

I think we could’ve easily enough left McCloskey off if we were that stuck for squad numbers tbh.

Why are we talking about Hodnett playing against SA when there is absolutely no indication he is even on the radar

Id say POM, Doris and maybe even Beirne are three next in line after VDF once the decision was made not to include another specialist

Munster rubby have one planned for next year. A load of roasters hopping around to Cotton Eyed Joe.

I think it’s a rare silly move from Farrell and Co. We might have a bit of luck and it won’t impact us at all but it’s still strange. I suppose if he can have a lad like Jimmy O’Brien cover 13 in a big test successfully he might end up sound.

I’m beginning to think Jamie Heaslip has to be engaged in some sort of gas-cuntist performance art.
