Rugby World Cup 2023/ Crochet & Knitting chit chat

Did I say otherwise?

Not relevant to the post you quoted so.

Have Ireland ever got past the quarter finals of the Rubby 7s at the Olympics?

I think the point is that the best rugby player in the world is skipping the prestigious Six Nations tournament to practice playing Tag Rugby at the Olympics

Not relevant to the point, heā€™s going off to do something different for a few months.

Modern world of sport.

If you say so.

Is he still going to play club rubby?

How different is rugby to 7s rugby? Same rules and skills just take out the fat lads?

Would you say the FIFA World Cup is the most prestigious completion in football?

Different specialism. You canā€™t compare a Serevi to a McCaw, for example.

I suppose the World Series wasnā€™t the most prestigious prize in baseball when Deion Sanders decided not to play for a bit?

Not a lad of lads on here wishing Dupont luck. Poor form.

All the best Antoine, if you are reading

The 5 Nations was always the midweek Goal Challenge equivalent of the World Cup.

I wonder will Lebron James and Kevin Durant skip the NBA playoffs next Spring to focus on the Olympics?

Upto march I think I heard which would mean missing Toulouse champions cup matches if/when they make later stages of the tournament

I hope he does very well. It is some honour for him and rugby that the French Olympic federation and Government have been pushing so hard for him to come over to try something different. Theyā€™re looking for him to be a Cathy Freeman, Ian Thorpe, Chris Hoy, Rafaela Silva etc of these Games in Paris.

Michael Jordan went off to play baseball. Didnā€™t devalue the NBA.

He needs to get practicing for Sevens, itā€™s a different beast.

Youā€™re comparing 7s rugby to track and field at the Olympics? :grinning::grinning:
