You don’t see players like Rui Costa any more, he personified grace and class on the pitch as he was a genius. As a man, he was a class act - humble, dignified and genuine - if football had men like Rui Costa playing today it would still have its soul.
Rui Costa was like a piece of classical music.
He was genius, but people either got him or they didn’t.
He was a good player, pal. But You’re need to stand out as a football hipster is unbecoming of you. I’ll give you that he was of a certain ilk alright, Pirlo might be the last of that kind…the modern game of football is a crock of shite and perhaps it’s that you are lamenting with these types of threads?
I am being nostalgic to headier times. Rui Costa was a delightful footballer who played the game as it should and whose character and attitude was far removed from the preening, self-centred prima donnas like Ronaldo and Messi who protrude the surface of today’s game.
