As was pointed out recently there is a good portion of Russian leaning civilians living there and seeing what’s become of Ukraine is going to fill those country’s with dread now.
Hopefully this doesn’t happen.

There are already a lot of people of Russian ethnic origin in neighbouring countries like Lithuania.
There will be more now as Russians flee.
Europe already has extensive experience of dictators invading other countries on the basis of made up, bogus pretexts of “massacres” of ethnic populations in those countries.
A particularly egregious example is happening right now.

So? Why would that matter to Putin?
If Putin isn’t removed from within a war with nato is a certainty.
Would the Chinese back Russia if nato get involved ?
Why would the Chinese want to get involved with NATO? Chinese leadership seem a bit more mentally stable that Putin and they don’t seem to have the same desires as Putin in terms of building another Soviet Bloc.
