The US State Department is not happy with this. There are a lot of is to be dotted and ts to be crossed on this I’d say.
Zelensky and the Poles are guilt tripping the US into agreeing. But they need to be guilt tripped into agreeing.

All a bit fucking messy considering what’s at stake
This issue has been a mess since the start. Remember last week when there were breathless headlines about European planes being over Ukrainian skies within an hour.
The issue is easy to understand. The US has decided that NATO and the west must walk on eggshells around Russia in a military sense and not give Russia the remotest pretext to drag NATO and the west in.
The Ukrainians see their people being slaughtered, and they want to and need to win the war quickly, and the Poles see themselves as being next on Putin’s hitlist. They want Putin gone and Russia permanently neutered, if not broken up forever.
The positions are fundamentally incompatible. Which means Ukraine, with Poland’s help, has to strong arm the US.

Also I find it very funny that it was Victoria Nuland who voiced US objections to this fighter jet plan.
Nuland, according to right wing Putinist conspiracy theory, was supposedly running Ukraine in 2014, supposedly was behind a “coup” (there was no coup or anything like it) and supposedly running Ukraine in such a way as to antagonise the Russians as much as humanly possible. The Ukrainian government post February 2014 was supposedly a “puppet” of Nuland.
The people who believe that stuff exist in a la la land.
