Russian missile attack on Kyiv while the UN Secretary General was in the city. Hopefully 33 billion dollars to Ukraine from the US will soften the Russians’ cough and then some.

Mood music for a good few days now has been that the Russians have their eye on Transnistria. Which presumably means they have their eye on the whole of Moldova. But Moldova doesn’t have a coastline. You have to go through Ukraine to get to Moldova.

May 9th is coming fast and Putin is desperate for something to show for his Hitler impression.

Russian rouble has doubled in value after Putin made it essentially a reserve currency in terms of their gas output.

What are the EU etc at in fairness @Cheasty ?

RUB was 140 to 1 USD at the end of February. Back up now to 1 to 72.

The sanctions are not working are they?

*I’m not pro Putin at all on this. Interested to read your perspective/thoughts on that.

The rouble is being supported artificially.

Russia is benefitting from fossil fuels increasing in price, they are getting more money from less purchases.

All Russian energy purchases need to end, that’s been clear from before the war.

As has been the case from before the war, Russia needs to be totally defeated militarily. Totally defeated. To the point is where there is no Russian army and never will be again until they come to their senses and renounce their Nazism.

The war certainly needs to be brought to Russian cities with US weaponry.

All pretty fair points. But who is buying all their gas?

The strength of the rouble to the dollar vs where it was at the end of February to me is crazy.

Looking back at it from a distance - you would have to say Putin and the Russian central back have played a blinder.
