Olly doesn’t pick Harrington for his wildcards.
The very best of luck to Team USA.
He basically told Harrington he’d have to win at the weekend to have a chance.
But Harrington was wildly inconsistent as usual
What the is reason for the bad blood between Harrington and Olazabal?
I’m disappointed that there will only be one Irishman on the team.
Olly thinks Padraig accused him of cheating 9 years ago.
Team USA will walk this…that’s the heart and head talking btw
Colsarts was a great choice anyway!
Long off the tee, course suits him and he likes matchplay.
Sensilble choice.
Draw is decent value at anything approaching 10/1.
I’m happy to report that TFK will have an on course representative throughout the Ryder Cup. I shall be in Medinah for the whole week and I’ve a week ticket that gives me access to the 3 days of practice* and the 3 days of competitive action.
*might not report for duty on every practice session as I may well go on the beer in Chicago
Something to do with Pod snubbing the seve trophy a few years back at the 11th hour when Olazabal was the captain, they’ve barely spoken since.
Harrington wasn’t playing well enough anyway. We have 2 Irish lads on the team and 2 Irish vice captains.

My understanding is that it stems from a moment during a tournament - could well be the Seve trophy - Olazabal was “repairing” the ground between his ball and the whole when Padraig quipped “doing a bit of gardening there Jose?”.
Olazabal didn’t see the funny side of this and refs were called etc. after the round Sergio Garcia was backing up Jose and was quoted saying sarcastically “way to go Padraig”.
It’s unsure whether Jose picked up the comments wrong or if Padraig meant them but sounds like something any irishman worth their salt would say in that situation.
:strokechin:
Jose had begun repairing what he decided were 2 pitch marks on the line of his putt.
Hartington wasn’t so sure they were legally repairable and, rightly so, thought that Jose should have …
- Discussed it with him
- Asked for a referees ruling
But the horrible Spanish prick did neither and when Hartington questioned him on it Jose took offence and somehow took the role of victim, conceded Harringtons putt and walked off the green in a sulk.
Padraig Harrington is a gentleman and this has been proven time and again in the 9 years since while Jose and Sergio are a pair of greasy Spanish cunts.
Less than 72 hours now to the big tee-off.
Earth by birth, Europe by the grace of God*.
We were slain at Valhalla in 2008. But I prophesise we will punish the infidel at the course named after the burial place of Muhammad.
We’re all part of Olly’s Army.
*Thank you to a texter on Off the Ball for that one.
I was in medinah today. It is some track.
The last 4 holes should provide serious entertainment. I sat at the 15th for over a hour - a drivable par 4 but water everywhere.
Roll on Friday
who has the TV coverage, BBC or Sky?
Sky.
Low profile build up here in Europe Phil. We are managing to keep the hype and euphoria at tolerable levels so that the golfers can just about get through their daily grind without being hassled too much. But come Friday the lid is going to be blon off this mother.
What’s it like in the USA Phil?
Tiger is the only member of the US team wagless. I see this affecting the outcome in a massive massive way.
