Mark James made a big mistake in 1999 however in keeping four players cold until the Sunday. That was the key in our collapse in the singles that year. The likes of van de Velde, Sandelin and Coltart who hadn’t played up to then were brushed aside and Garcia and co. who had played all four sessions had nothing left to give. I think everybody needs to play at least once before Sunday.
