Make this man a vice-captain now, please.
Happy to be stuck with you
1997, 2008 and 2014 (hurling replay).
Reading between the lines it seems that O’Connell’s speech was really crap.
I heard everyone fell asleep.
I think the exact phrase used was “you could hear a pin drop”.
I see that they all got a pair of Paul O’Connell pajamas as a souvenir.
That never happened
When Paul O’Connell speaks, people stop and listen
When the boogie man goes to sleep, he checks his closet for Paul O’Connell.
Anticipation at absolute fever-pitch ahead of the opening ceremony here
Pairings for tomorrow to be announced at the end of the ceremony.
This will be epic.
Any pairing predictions?
Do we go strong with power pairs like Rose and Stenson, McIlroy and Garcia etc or split them up and get them to take a rookie under their wings?
I’d say go with the power pairs for the foursomes and mix and match for the four balls.
Stenson/Rose, McIlroy/Sullivan, Willett/Westwood and Garcia/Kaymer if the practice pairings are anything to go by.
I’m not watching the opening ceremony, but I’m presuming that like most opening ceremonies for major events, it’s sort of a demonstration to the world of the native culture of the host nation, the USA?
It would be really interesting for the worldwide viewership to get an insight into USA-ian culture and presumably would be a huge boost to it in terms of tourism and global exposure.
Like, it’d be class if they had skyscrapers popping up out of the greens the way chimneys popped up out of the ground during Danny Boyle’s Olympic Opening ceremony in 2012.
No suit for bubba
The Americans are a dose
U-S-A! Hell yeah 'Murica!
Round one to Davis. Master stroke introducing his vice captains, Clarke barely acknowledged his. Great rendition of star spangled banner then to end it all.
