Regularly? Naby Keita and?
Sevco’s best players either aren’t very good, are old or are nut cases like Morelos. Nobody wants to buy Sevco’s best players
Regularly? Naby Keita and?
Sevco’s best players either aren’t very good, are old or are nut cases like Morelos. Nobody wants to buy Sevco’s best players
So it’s just that Sevco are very poorly run?
They have invested huge money into toppling Celtic, posted an 11m loss this year, a 14m loss the year before. Have reneged on selling their best players.
They’re going to bankrupt themselves in the hope of catching Celtic, who on the other hand are regularly hawking off their best players.
Your argument is completely contradictory.
That barasic is very good left back for rangers. Surely get 10 million for himm
Who has spent more on transfers in the last 5 years, Sevco or Celtic? Not net spend, actual expenditure
Celtic have a net surplus on transfers in the past 5 seasons of £18m.
Sevco have a net spend of circa £38.5m in the past 5 seasons not including Hagi.
That shows Sevco have invested £56.5m more than Celtic in their first team in the past 5 seasons, Celtic’s first team squad was likely assembled for much less than £56.5m.
The difference is Celtic sell off their best players and reinvest a fraction of it back in the playing squad whereas Sevco do either of the following:
a) Hold onto their best players and invest money to improve the squad
b) Waste their money on shit players and go and invest more money in more expensive, slightly less shit players
Either way it makes shit of your argument.
It’s almost like there are two sets of goalposts in operation here. Curious
If you keep investing heavily in your first team and retain your best players despite financial difficulties against an opponent who is downsizing, you’d have to have expected much more from Sevco in the past 3 or 4 seasons.
If edouard goes to England totally levels the playing field in my opinion.
Probably but that’s because Celtic have a chump manager and a board of directors solely interested in lining their own pockets.
Sounds like Neil Lennon is doing an incredible job at Glasgow Celtic apparently with just buttons to spend. They won 20 and drew 1 of their last 22 league matches before the season was shut down. Odd that @Fulvio_From_Aughnacloy was calling for Neil Lennon to be sacked when they lost that one match to Glasgow Rangers over Christmas. What a drama queen.
He was a thoroughly uninspiring appointment.
His teams by and large get outclassed by any decent opponent. Conversely they absolutely can grind it out on a wet windy Tuesday night in Stoke*, which is pretty much all you need in the spl at present.
Celtic were outclassed by rangers in games as Lennon took control, as well as being well beaten by mediocre European teams by and large (they’ll always win an odd one, but by and large). Lennon is a muddy flat tracker who likely had few alternatives at the time
That’s a terrific number of incorrect statements for one post.
Lazio home and away were not a mediocre team. Topping the group and qualifying with two games to spare wasn’t a mediocre achievement. Celtic have beaten Rangers when it mattered, won the league when it mattered.
Winning the league and European football after Christmas has always been a good season for Celtic. Champions League after Christmas is the holy grail - something only Lennon and Strachan have achieved in the modern era.
I think you’ve dumbed down the term ‘holy grail’ here.
You left a few bits out there, curate.
So the consensus among the Glasgow Celtic fans here seems to be that they have a chump of a manager, a hopeless board of directors, a collection of bargain basement or loaned journeymen players yet they still manage to win the league for a 9th season running, by a country mile as they’ve done for most of the last decade.
Exciting times ahead in the ultra competitive League of Scotland if Glasgow Celtic get a competent manager, sack the board and start spending a few quid on players.
No, I think the board are as you’d expect, the players are good, the manager has his level which is mediocre.
Repeatedly beating very average spl teams has been sufficient to see off sevco. I’m happy enough with it.
I’m not a huge fan of Lennon.
Have you ever seen Gerrard win the league?
I like Neil Lennon.
An impressive Europa League group, but poor exits either side of it in the CL preliminaries and the EL last 32.
Won two domestic competitions and still in the cup too. Played particularly well after Christmas.
2 wins from 3 against Sevco. Lost what in hindsight was an even enough game, comfortably won another game and won the League Cup Final when Sevco were much the better team. Not ideal to lose any derby game but on the right side of things against them specifically, and overall.
You can say Sevco are shit, but they’re in the EL last 16 which is a good achievement for jocko league outfits these days. So they pose more of a challenge, but they are shit though.
Would like to see Celtic dispose of them comprehensively next season, play like they had been in the second half of the season just gone and to do better in Europe, which would be CL group stages & getting into EL latter stages from there at least.
I reserve the right to demand Lennon’s sacking during the European qualifiers in July/August though.
What if he goes to France, Spain or Italy ?
