Scottish Football (SPFL, Scottish Cup, Bet Fred Cup, Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup)

Aberdeen v Glasgow Celtic in the semi final of the Skol Cup on Saturday.

Three away goals all season apparently.

Two goals away from home in the league from five matches.

Celtic’s right back has scored more goals away from home in the league than the huns.

Third this evening no?

Don’t think so. Scoreless draw at Hearts, lost at Celtic & Killie without scoring, won 1-0 at Tannadice & scored once tonight in defeat.

Clement needs more time.
And money.

Aberdeen move 3 points clear at the top of the table with a 4-1 win at Pittodrie over Dundee.

Celtic saved by the woodwork against Killie. The usual plastic-pitch anxiety in evidence.

Fortuitous goal, game is still very much in the balance

Kuhn misses after being out clean through by Idah, Scales gets caught fluting around at the other end and needs Schmeichel to bail him out

Kuhn doesn’t need to be asked twice from his preferred angle. Celtic 2-0.

Thought Celtic got roughed up by Kilmarnock there. Very physical, direct & a shambolic pitch. They go man to man & push right up, that backfired on them at the end of last season when Celtic played over their press & Idah had a stormer - holding it up, laying it off, taking the ball on the turn & generally bullying them. But it didn’t stick regularly for Idah up there today & they pinned Celtic back at times with balls into the box & fights for second balls. There was a 15-minute spell in the second half where Trusty, Scales & Taylor were all over the shop but the second goal finished it. Kuhn has been terrific this season. Thought the midfield three weren’t great today either but job done in the end & important to keep pace with the Dons.

Edit: And Schmeichel was very good.

Some finish in Easter road there.

My goodness.

What a league.

A sweet one for Big Jim Goodwin in the New Firm derby at Tannadice. Aberdeen in complete freefall.

Another late winner for Big Jim Goodwin in the Tayside derby.

Yes mate

Aberdeen were joint top of the league with Celtic on November 9th after a 4-1 thrashing of Dundee, notching 31 of the first 33 available points.

It looked like they were about to rise phoenix like from the ashes much like Nottingham Forest are doing down south.

Today’s incoming defeat at Motherwell will mean they’ve taken just 3 points from the following 30.

After flirting with the high road they’ve settled on a very low road now.

I read back then they had massively outperformed their xG & xP. I recall their xP after 11 games was 16, even though they had accumulated 31 as you say. It must be after tilting the other way entirely now. A veritable case of regression to the mean.
