Yeah, but do you understand sport?
It doesn’t have to delivered in that manner. I think it’d be interesting in a hurling context if Cusack, or a similarly capable pundit, broke down Waterford’s system and showed how Cork playing a traditional 6-2-6 couldn’t make any impression against it last weekend. And then suggested what Cork might look to change ahead of their upcoming championship match.
A few pertinent clips, a pundit discussion, some on-screen graphics showing how teams lined up and relevant statistics etc. Move onto the next game then. Not everyone will care but if it’s complementary to a general highlights show and the live matches which are both light on actual analysis then those only interested in lazy generalisations, inaccuracies and lads shouting over each other won’t lose out on the part they enjoy.
Sounds like you haven’t a clue about football if you’re relying on Neville and Carragher to explain it you.
Have Carragher and Neville figured out that Kompany is a liability yet with all their high tech, in-depth analysis?
Their combination of top level experience, research and perspicacity means I do learn and see things I would otherwise not have noticed. That is top punditry. Not having an opinion that a player is lazy or a good player but not a great player which is lazy punditry with little preparation and no perspicacity.
I agree fully. What kind of a fucktard needs to watch two fucking idiots for an hour on a Monday night to know what’s going on in a match. This is why I’d prefer to watch Dunphy talk absolute shite for a half an hour after a game than watch a lad try to tell me what’s happening in a game that I’ve just seen
I make my kind up on what I see. I trust my knowledge and interpretation. You seem to seek your views out from others.
Are these fellas gone completely off the radar? I was hungry for hurling analysis all week and it’s only now I am after remembering these guys.
Their podcast still seems to be going okay. I generally listen to the soccer one if I have the time but I find the new off the ball to be better on all sports bar soccer
Oisin McConville is a good listen on the football, Moyles turns up everywhere else anyway.
Their podcast is shite, they spend about 15 minutes at the start talking complete garbage, that murph gimp the lead protagonist. They spend way too much time talking about football (for my liking) and their hurling analysis is gash.
There is fuck all decent midweek hurling analysis to be got these days. Of the Newstalk lads Eoin Kelly is boring and cliched, Daithi Regan is a spoofer, Jamsie O’ Connor can be interesting enough if harmless. Brian Hogan can sometimes give some insight into the Kilkenny set-up and is not the worst but again he’s harmless enough.
Michael Kavanagh was one guy whose analysis I found to be a bit better than others this week.
Radio 1 podcast.
Kilkenny man in backing Killenny man shocker
I knew someone would be predictable enough to focus on that section of my post alright
Their football analysis is excellent, the hurling isn’t a patch on it.
Balls.ie had a podcast this week with the two of these which I accidentally came across. I was only half listening as I was flicking through all those Feile photos McConville seemed to be saying some interesting stuff about his career.
He also believes there’s serious bad blood between Jim McGuinness and Rory Gallagher.
I thought that bad blood came across in McGuinness’s post Ulster Final column in The Irish Times. There was nothing explicit like “I fucking hate him” but there was some pointed criticism of different tactics and lack of variation.
He’s right, there is.
It’s because he’s shit and dull. Actually I get it now.
wtf? i assumed everyone in Macs gang grew up with him in Gorey. someone to willingly join the gang as an adult is bizarre
