Senior Hurling Quarter Finals

With the news the KK are playing a one legged man tomorrow, I’m lumping on Cork.

Cork will beat Kilkenny no bother

I hope you’re in better form after a nights sleep, pal!

Ridiculous fuck acting out of Galway all year with full and centre back. 6 is the most important position on the field, they should have had it sorted months ago and IMO they still don’t have a better option than Regan. Tannian and donnellan gone is massive, probably their two best performers after canning last year.

That said, that’s still a strong team, they’ll have too much for Clare. Presuming Hayes out around the middle then if two of the burkes, Cooney or Glynn have a decent game to support canning, that will be too much firepower for Clare.

Galway by 5, kk by 5.

nit really, wanted to go for a game of golf with my young fells this afternoon but weather not good. Looking out the window at the next door and would be tempted if there was anything decent on tv. At times like this you miss you miss the winter racing

Where the fuck are you? the weather has been great all day… One or two small showers expected only.

For a county that’s won 4 from 18 Munster Championship games this century, whose biggest scalp in a championship knock out game since reaching the 2002 All Ireland Final has been Wexford, a side who were hammered by a moderate Cork side only a few weeks ago and who have a fellow on the sideline directing proceedings who seems to be somewhat lacking in tactical nous, there’s an awful lot of hype about this Clare team.

You’re forgetting they won a lot of underage titles, and as I can assure you, this ALWAYS turns into Senior silverware.

Always. `

They’ve got lovely hands though

Tipp were robbed in the u21 Munster final last year.

I think they will lose, but if they deliver a bit of fight they have some fine young players that will trouble Galway. I think the problem does lie with the sideline and the slightness of the team. If they can bulk up a little and sort midfield out they wont be far off challenging next year- if Davy can put the team before his ego that is.

If they could get rid of Davy, that would be a start

No way will Galway line out like that. From what I’m hearing Collins will be full-back with Donnellan the surprise choice at centre-back. It’s still fuck-acting either way and this team has all the signs of one that the management has no control of.

Not often I disagree with you glasagusban but I fancy Clare by 4-5 points. There’s a game in them and, although both teams play rigid systems, I feel Clare are that bit more together and more likely to play for their management than this notoriously flaky Galway team. If they can poach a couple of goals, and Cathal McInerney, looks back in form, they’ll have enough to win it.

Also, just have a sneaking feeling that Cork will pull one off against the Cats. There’s little pressure on them, Thurles will suit them and if they run at KK they could do enough damage against a tired-looking team. I’m not at all convinced about the fitness of Fennelly and Shefflin and I still think that Cork full-forward line is highly dangerous.

Cork by 2.

I’m with you mate. Cork will walk it, the other game is much tougher to call. I’ve said Clare are due a big game, it’s the Jekyll and Hyde nature of Galway that makes it tough. I’ll stick with Galway tho and look forward to Limerick battering them in Croker.

Kk are in a good spot. It’s always been Cody’s way to start players and get the most out of them before takin them off. It’s a very normal considered approach. Everything they do is considered and this is why they do have the legs. Dempsey is clearly a massive influence and as well as possessing technical skills I think he may have the naturals gifts of being able to read players physical and mental readiness and train accordingly.

I think KK are far stronger now than when they played Dublin, and I also think Dublins hurling and conditioning is under rated. KK are definitely not as good as they were, but they are not running on fumes either. They are coming from a winning mentality, it’s far more disrupted for Cork. Only one winner, Cork*

Galway will win other game. Just make it a fight Galway, Clare do 't have the physicality for it yet.

  • Only joking, Killkenny will win by 7-8.

They’re kinda hard games to call form lines a bit all over the place. I don’t think cork are that great and that limerick would have won relatively comfortably with no sending off anyway. With cork not having much on the bench kk should do enough to fall over the line. And I remain unconvinced that clare are actually contenders more than I am convinced that Galway are actually as bad as they have shown so far.

I wouldn’t be surprised to be proved wrong though. I’d love to see kk out and I’d like to see Clare winning again. If limerick are out of contention as they usually are I normally root for Galway, but they are the team left I’d least like to play.

I don’t know if KK will win or not but you are definitely right about Dempseys influence. It’s vastly underappreciated . Don’t know if you know this but he was in Sydney with The Swans and the other Sydney crowd in Nov and Dec last. I do not know why Laois are not moving mountains to get him back there- wonder what happened there before?
