Did a Gaa match ever have to be played behind closed doors due to fans rioting? (Kilkenny training sessions aside)
many GAA games are played behind closed doors , for example Cork Donegal this year, wexford dublin in hurling, the christy ring cup final, clare kerry in the football qaurter final, on TV all you can see is a vast empty stadium…
im not sure if this is due to a geneeral lack of interest or a history of crowd trouble between opposing fans causing the ground or sections of it to be closed… it surely cant be a lack of interest tho as these games are the highest level of the sport and surely would be sold out events…

Football is a global game Ambrose that stirs up deep passions between rival clubs and countries. It’s daft to compare the passionate fans groups that clash at these events to the buck toothed simpletons in cowboy hats that run onto the pitch after a big stick hurling game.
