Hard to see anyone other than Juve.
Some big signings there with Alves, Benatia, Pjanic, Pjaca and now Higuain on the way.
The signing of Higuain to me almost certainly means Pogba is going, but I think Juve will be even stronger this season, quite surprised they didn’t make Cuadrado permanent last season as he was very good for them.
Roma look a rabble - Pjanic gone, Digne not made permanent, Rudiger out for the season. That’s three starters there and two of them key players and I think the replacements are certainly downgrades in all three positions. Expectations are underwhelming but hopefully Spalletti can work his magic.
Napoli have lost their talisman in Higuain, so far they have only bought in Tonelli and Giaccherini. Hard to see them repeat last season. Bacca looks the most likely replacement, good player but not at Higuain’s level. I think they will struggle this year.
Milan, very underwhelming summer market so far. They are trying to push their main striker out the door and the only signings so far have been a striker in his mid 20s from Serie B and a full back from River Plate on a free who might go before the summer is out. I’m not convinced about Montella and sacking Mijhalovic last year was ridiculous and he was doing quite well with them.
Inter have been very quiet this summer, a couple of free transfers arriving in Banega and Erkin. Ansaldi has arrived from Genoa. They look to have a decent squad overall but Mancini hasn’t really looked like making them click. Icardi could possibly leave as well. I expect a similar season compared to last year.
Fiorentina, another side with a very underwhelming transfer campaign so far. Sousa has done a good job with them and it’s evident the money is simply not there. I’d say they will struggle this season.
Lazio, an absolute rabble. Bielsa fucked them over, now they have thrown in a novice in Simone Inzaghi. Candreva, Anderson, Keita all trying to angle for moves away.
Torino have made some good signings and Mijhalovic is a good appointment so I would fancy them to pick up a Europa League spot this year.
Overall, I don’t see anyone mounting a big challenge to Juve this year, the gap is widening even more if anything. Hopefully someone can pull a surprise on us though.
Fixtures have been set now, most appeasing opening weekend fixtures would be:
Juve - Fiorentina
Milan - Torino
