Serie A season 2011/2012

Lazio look like they’ve grabbed a late winner against Lecce.

Meanwhile, over in Genoa, Sebastian Frey is confronting angry supporters behind his goal.

Lecce have equalised!!!

Zlatan has equalised for Milan.

FT in Milan. 1-1.

Play looks set to resume in Genoa, it stopped at 53 minutes with Genoa trailing 4-0.

Lecce have held Lazio to a draw.

Bad news for fascists. The second part of their glorious treble this weekend has failed.

Genoa’s Serie A match against Siena was halted temporarily after disgruntled Grifone supporters expressed their frustrations at the team’s players for a below-par performance.

Alberto Malesani’s men found themselves 4-0 down after only 53 minutes of play, but Luigi Giorgi’s fourth goal for the visitors proved to be the final straw for many, who began throwing various items onto the pitch.

The club’s ultras then took action by blocking the entrance to the dressing room as they wanted the players to hand their jerseys over on the grounds that they were not “worthy” of the colours.

All of the Genoa players incredibly co-operated, except loan striker Giuseppe Sculli, who refused to remove his shirt, while wing-back Giandomenico Mesto broke down in tears.

Captain Marco Rossi, who was given the responsibility of taking the jerseys and passing them on to the ultras, proceeded to go over to the group of supporters in a bid to bargain with them.

In the meantime, referee Paolo Tagliavento managed to enter the dressing room, while club president Enrico Preziosi also made his way to the pitch and gathered the players in a huddle.

Sculli then appeared to try to negotiate with his shirt still on, along with Sebastien Frey, who tried to pull his back and was quoted in the Italian media as saying: “This is my shirt, we are all for Genoa.”

Frey seemingly played the role of peacemaker between the ultras and players, as he then pleaded Siena to come back out onto the pitch and complete the game, which still had 37 minutes remaining.

Play has since resumed, with the scoreline now 4-1 to the Bianconeri. However, it is expected that a round of talks between the Genoa players and ultras will commence on Monday.

That’s quality stuff all round in Genoa. The wing back crying is a nice touch too.

Great for team spirit.

Genoa’s 4-1 defeat to Siena was suspended for 40 minutes when angry ultras demanded the players take off their shirts, as they were “unworthy” of wearing them.

Genoa were losing 4-0 at the 53rd minute when the Marassi crowd halted play by throwing fireworks and climbing on top of the tunnel.

Captain Marco Rossi went to negotiate with the ultras, who demanded the squad remove their jerseys, as they were “unworthy” of wearing the Genoa colours.

After some time, the players accepted and there were tears from Giandomenico Mesto as he handed over his shirt.

Rossi was walking around the pitch with a pile of jerseys to show the fans, but Giuseppe Sculli refused to co-operate.

Sculli went over to speak to the fans himself and insisted with great passion that he was giving his all for Genoa, so would not take off the shirt.

He too was in tears and comforted by the head ultra. This proved a breakthrough and the game was allowed to resume.

Thats mad!

Smashing goal by Zlatan today.

Van Bommel at fault for the Bologna goal.

Juve have an easy run-in after tonight (playing all the bottom three, Cagliari at a neutral venue and Atalanta at home) so Roma need to do the business.

Van Bommel is done as a footballer. Ambrosini is a much better option for that holding role, Aquilani also seems to have been out of favour since his return from injury which I find surprising.

I think it’s time for Larry Duff to call the Serie A title race.

I think it’s time for me to acknowledge I may have been too harsh on Arturo Vidal. I stand by my earlier season judgement but he has taken the erratic play out of his game and is now beginning to add goals to his game, a very good player.

Signing off at lunch for the Serie A action today.

Novara take the lead against Lazio!!!
