Serie A season 2012/2013

Not sure itā€™s been mentioned here and I couldnā€™t be arsed wade through tottis streams of consciousness, but Antonio Cassano has paid Lionel Messi the greatest compliment he possibly could have.

ā€˜I named my second son Lionel because of the best player in the world: Messi. Lionel was born, he is my Messi. Iā€™ve given this as a homage to the greatest player of all timeā€¦I love him on a football sideā€™

A full day of action today in Serie A, of which the highlight is Inter-Juve which has a 2 pm kick-off. Roma travel to lowly Palermo and have Destro and Pjanic back in the squad after injury. Unfortunately I believe that none of the 2 pm matches are being televised by ESPN which irks me.

Cracking game between Napoli and Torino on ESPN now, Cerci is lightning-quick.

Hamsik just missed a penalty to restore Napoliā€™s lead.

3-3 stunning finish from Dzemaili

I remember buying Cerci as a 15 year old on Football Manager many years ago. Was a great investment

Great game. Cavani showing his class now

What a game that was. Napoli come back to win 5-3. Sensational second half

That was a sensational game, it had everything from a dramatic point of view. Cavani was absolutely rubbish when he came on, horrible touches, gave away a ridiculous penalty, his side went from being 2-1 up when he came on to being 3-2 down shortly after his introduction - then he came to life scoring a wonderful free kick to restore the lead and wrapping it up in injury time with a great header. Serie A is top for everything, bravo, bravo, bravo.

Cerci is really turning into a top player, he burned Zuniga all night long and Zuniga is a supreme athlete. Iā€™m annoyed he never got a chance at Roma.

I also forgot to mention the hat-trick Dzemaili got, three striker that were perfectly executed. Napoli are a very funny team, they just canā€™t seem to find any degree of consistency over the course of a season.

Two penalties have drawn 10 man Fiorentina level with Milan in Florence.

2-2 in the end. Milan will have every right to feel aggrieved as they had really good penalty shouts not given when the score was at 2-2 and Fiorentinaā€™s first penalty was a really poor decision from the referee. Balotelli was very poor today.

Palermo who looked doomed a couple of weeks ago now look like putting their second straight victory behind them by beating Sampdoria 3-1 in Genoa. They will go level on points with the with Siena and Genoa as things stand, two of these three teams look certain to go down, with the other one surviving.

6 goals in a twenty minute spell as Atalanta lead Inter in a 7 goal thriller at the San Siro.

Greatest league in the world.

12 minute hat trick I see

Napoli lead Genoa 2-0 in the other game tonight. Hard to believe one of Genoa and Palermo will get relegated - possibly both! They are quality teams and would probably be pushing for European positions in the EPL.

Cassano went off injured tonight for Inter, it already looks like Palacio and Milito will miss the rest of the season through injury so this is a devastating blow. They only have Rocchi up front now, a guy who has been finished for a couple of year at this stage and scored his first goal in 14 months this evening. Complete mismanagement by Branca and Morratti to leave themselves in this kind of position. They also have got rid of their two best youth strikers (Longo and Livaja) on a loan and co-ownership respectively, even Coutinho could do a job in attack youā€™d feel and they also allowed him to leave. Feel quite sorry for Stramaccioni to be honest, little he can do with this scenario although they have should be defending a lot better than they. I actually canā€™t believe Branca is still in a job, he has got Interā€™s transfer policy embarrassingly wrong in the last three seasons.

Incredible Francesco Tottiesque volley by the magnificent Antonio Di Natale this weekend:

Ilicicā€™s goal yesterday was McCourtesque.
