Ajer is all at sea at right back.

Out formation isn’t working at the back at all. Simunovic is too passive I think in the middle. Morelos is free to drift out to Boyata who is having a nightmare. 3 centre backs would normally free Simunovic to cover across more and we’d have one attacking the ball and one marking but we’ve got Ajer playing as a hybrid centre back and right back and that’s not helping at all. He’s not tracking John or Murphy and it means Simunovic isn’t free. We should got to a standard 3 at the back now or a conventional back 4 with Tierney staying back.

Excellent on the ball for much of the game though. Ntcham and McGregor have been really really good. Some goal from Rogic too. He started brilliantly but they’ve been sitting on him more since.

My days. Some half of football. Throwing Boyata straight back in after being injured for a month has backfired terribly. Compper not on the bench, Hendry the defensive option. Boyata can be grand when he’s playing with rhythm and confidence but he’s got a mistake in him, as they say. Mistakes much more likely to come when he’s rusty too. They’re exerting a lot of energy running rabidly around and fouling us. Hopefully Roberts, Sinclair or whoever can come on and make the difference.
