MacGowans family were something else
I thought something that came through was that Victoria Mary Clarke genuinely does love him. I admit I thought she was some sort of groupie, clinging on for fame, but I’d say you’d have to really love him to stick him
Aw that was great
Fair play to @Big_Dan_Campbell for the bump, I enjoyed it (kind of).
He was a fabulous lyricist even if the driving force of his music stayed in the singular mode that brought initial fame. This opinion applies to Van Morrison, who’s recordings are somewhat (if outstanding) one-dimensional.
The broadness of their work, following this analogy, lifts the U2 catalogue well ahead of the two aforementioned.
I think it wasn’t meant to be entirely enjoyable it was just a raw representation of a flawed genius
U2 went from 3 chords to 4. Hardly groundbreaking either.
A republican alcoholic junkie.
Shane is the greatest Irish songwriter that ever lived and its not even close
Love him. 4 or 5 good years and lost it.
Is that enough? Does he need longevity of songs.
His best is probably the best. I’d say it qualifies.
What is this gobbledygook? We are discussing great artists not accountants

Heard a few bits of this on the radio earlier today. Might be of interest to those interested in the London-Irish music cultures
I’m listening to London’s Broadways from Wednesday 17 March on RTÉ Radio 1 http://rte.ie/r.html?rii=9_11292150_33932_17-03-2021_
I heard some of that, it seemed excellent, I’ll be listening back
The song ‘Paddy on the roads’ was haunting
Is this on Netflix or amazon, etc ?
